i 3 . ! " * Legionnaires oust Lindsay 2-zip On Sunday, Feb. 11th, the # as Lindsay was handed their second straight loss. The Lindsay Muskies and the Port Perry Legionaires have had some closely contested games in the past and these two games proved to be the same. Lindsay had home ice advantage in this game, however, it didn't affect the PeeWee Legionaires as they kept Lindsay hemmed in their own end for most of the first period. Port Perry had numerous great scoring chances throughout the first but with only 53 seconds left in the first, Dean VanCamp shovelled the puck across the front of the Lindsay net and Matt MacMaster was there to tip the plick in However, Lindsay did not fold up and scored minutes into the second to tie the score at one apiece. The line of VanCamp, MacMaster and Braden Tarbotton pushed Port Perry ahead again when Tarbotton scored on a wrist shot from VanCamp and MacMaster, but Lindsay continued to press and tied the score again at two each. VanCamp, who played a strong game, set up MacMaster for his second gol when he passed the puck to Matt in he slot and Matt made no mistake Tarbotton also assisted.f This goal sent Port Perry into the third with a thin one goal lead which again evaporated as Lindsay scored shorthanded. However, VanCamp scored the game winner on a 'patented' breakaway backhander. (Blakley and Tarbotton assisted). Carl Evans played a good game , between the pipes. to backstop the win. . On Monday, Feb. 5th, the PeeWee Legionaires had started their secand round piyoff series against the Lindsay Muskies. The first period saw good scoring chances from both teams. Jason Whitworth and Matt MacMaster were both robbed by the Lindsay goalie early in the period while Chris Monsma (in net for the Legionaires) came up with some huge saves when his team was shorthanded, With just 26 seconds left in * the first, Jason Whitworth gave Port Perry a 1-0 lead, on a 2-on-1 rush, after he had received a lovely pass fram Chris Skerratt."Mark Blakely also assisted: However, the oné goal lead would not stand long as Lindsay score to back (both by the rightwinger Adam take a 2-1 Legionaires d though and Dean tied the game at 2.all a perfect wrist shot. VanCamp, sufi and MacMaster (2) assisted, MacMaster scofed the final goal on a well-executed 2- on-1 with VgnCamp putting a perfect pass on his stick. Blakley also assisted. Grant Hooker, Sean Jeffrey, Dave Justynski and, Tim @ones all performed their usual good calibre defensive play in helping goalie Chris Monsma get the win. Steve Wygerde and 'Midget playoffs The Pineridge Sports Midgets are into round two of the playoffs, up against Stouffville.
