Major newspapers have had negative articles attacking the integrity of teachers. There is another side to this and we would like to share with you a small part of that story. Teachers are caring individuals who give up many hours of their personal time for those extra curricular activities. Many of us remember school for those extras that helped keep us focused and in school. The Durham Athletic Association is just one example of what is happening in the schools of the Durham Board of Education. This Association organizes cross country, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, wrestling, folk dancing and track and field for the students we _ teach. Last year over 12,000 studénts from 91 schools tdok part in these programs. In total, over 730 teachers, 32% of the teachers employed by the --_ Scugog Citizen -- Tucedey, fipril § 16, 1996-- 13 . Wetland preservation can be simple To the Editor: I am writing in response to the article "Preserving Wetlands" in the March 19th paper. This article talked about the wetlands in the Scugog area, and how we can help preserve them. This article was extremely well written and brought to mind the importance of Scugog's wetlands. ,To the Editor: . *Please accept this letter in response to Mr. Bill Lishman's letter, printed in the Scugog Citizen on March 19, 1996. The subtle oppression of Democracy - How foolish we all have been to believe in the freedom of being Canadian. What are we doing to our environment?
