And Town Hall 1873's 1996 Concert Season just gets better and better; its climatic close will be crowned with two stunning concert nights - - May 31 and June 1 - - at the Queen Street, Port Perry Theatre. Gifted well-known local musicians Tom and Catherine Millar, founders of Millar Lights, will be " joined by sixteen other talented performers in a mixed classical / eta / BD adway program Town Hall 1873 Bene All proceeds from both concerts go the Hall's ongoing Improvement Fund. Dr. Millar, currently music-directing Scugog Choral Society's popular production of "The Music Man", has planned an exciting concert programme for his return to the stage as a performer. The show's first half will open with. his solo classical interpretations on the pianoforte. He will then roles in local prod also sings on with Toronto's famed Mendelssohn Choir under Dr. Iseler's direction. Other soloists and choristers - - the "Friends" in the Concerts' title - - will round out Act One with some rousing operetta favourites from "Gypsy Princess", "Countess Maritza", and "The Merry Widow®, Concert-goers will be im) with the voices of Lesley Bradley and Jay King, two young rising stars on the Ontario music scene, while familiar face Terry Paul adds his comic touch to "Varasdin", then will be joined by the "Grisette" Gang all on board for a racy romp through the light- hearted finale of Act One. Act Two offers a complete change of pace - - and locale - as Stewart Bennett, backed by vocal trio Mgureen Edwards, Lisa Sumner, and Catherine Millar, recreates Melodies from Scotland. Then it's off be joined by wife Catherine, a talented soprano who, in addition to many leading to y with memorable medleys and solos from two current ~v to olen ily baritone Grant Coward, alto Julie Renwick, and soprano Maureen Edwards, along with Jay King, Lesley Bradley, and Catherine Millar will teach their audience new ways to dream as they and company members Amanda Powell, Janet Green, Kyffen Gaudet (Music Man's Marion), Pam Kennedy, Katie Burns, Lisa Sumner, Ryan Edgar, Reid Wilson, John Forster, Terry Paul and Stewart Bennett escort us through their secret garden of melodies.
