Fresh start for ladies fas sthall Ladies fastball in Port Perry got fresh start over the weekend as a newly formed team competed in the Ken Davis Memorial tour- nament in Uxbridge. The team, made up of players from the Durham Slo-Pitch League, lost both games but both by close margins. In their opener Port met Aurora and struck for the first run in the first inning. Aurora came back to tie things up and went ahead 2-1 in the second. And that's the way the game ended. One high-light was a spar- ling double play that started with Aurora runners on first and third with one out. A ground ball was hit sharply to third base. The ball was caught, the runner was held and the throw to first. was in time to get the batter, The first, baseman then threw to home and the catcher blocked the plate perfetiy to get the run- ner from third. Port's second gamé on Saturday featured another fine effort by Port Perry against Whitby. The score was 2-2 until the bottom of the 5th when Whitby broke things open with seven runs. : But the Port ladies never quit and came back with three of their own. The "curfew" ended the game with Whisby on top 9-5. our office 10 apply lor the HOMEOWNERS 50 You QUALIFY FoR . $5000 ASSISTANCE FOR HOME REPAIRS?
