"FastV was the word used fo describe the oval at Port Perry Fairgrounds Sunday when harness horse racing al d the lon of pari-mutuel betting -- playing the ponies. A friendly wave from the engineer -- Tracy McKeown of Oakwood happily rode the locomotive ir the midway. Hold on to that hot dog! The ride has just begun! Giving Muscular Dystrophy the boot g that's what firefight- ers from Scugog Hall #1 were up to at the Port Perry Fair. Kevin Cracknell, left, and Irv Gibson were asking fair-goers to donate whatever they could to help fight MD. Hall #1, by the way, Is hosting a special event of its own this coming Saturday -- the Durham Region Auto Extrication Competition, all day long at the Township parking lot, behind CIBC in Port Perry. The only thing harder than milking a cow, or so they say, Is getting her to do what you want on fair day. These fellas had everything udder control, in the Coloured Dairy Show Sewrday. Hera iioy are, ladles and gentlemen, the two best clowns at the Port Perry Fair! First and seednd prizes in the fair's Dress-up Contest, clown category, was Rory Taillon (first) and Justine Abraham (second). The contest'was held Saturday, Kids' Day at the fair. And a great day it was! Fastest mile at ta Port Perry Fair was turned in by Brigamato, owned by Fred LeBlanc (right) of Stouffville and driven by'Dan LeBlanc. The time was 2:06:01 and It came In nie 9th race spon- sored by Country Style Donuts. The cooler was donated by Brooks Feed Store, Sunderland Feed Supply and Purina Chows.
