Harlton was being held on a charge of killing County Constable Waddell, who was abdut to serve him with a summons for stealing chickens. Harl- ton is alleged to have shot as Con- stable Waddell got off his motorcycle and was walkiing up the drive to the side of the house where Harlton was hving on Egerton street, near the Dundas Highway. Martron, of Virginia, is said to have heen the ringleader of the escape, in | which five prisoners got their freedom. ! Three of them were captured again, however, Martron was thought to be wanted on several serious charges in | { United States. He was lodged in the jail in London charged with criminal assault, Were Complainants In Ease In connection with a poleie court | item published in yesterday's paper, 1' was erroneously stated that Peter | Tomolak, Peter Blazejewicz and Pauli Nasiorowski were committed to trial at the next court of higher jurisdiction | on a charge of assault occasioning ac- | tual bodily harm. This should have! read that the three were the complain- ants in the case, One hears a great deal about the expansion of United States industry in Canada; therefore, it is interest- ing to note that Canadians can, and do, expand their business on the other side of the border. This was emphasized at the recent opening in Boston, Mass, of the magnificent new building of the Salada Tea Com- pany--a Canadian enterprise with world-wide ramifications. The building was opened by the Honourable P. C, Larkin, in the presence .of Governor Fuller of Massachusetts, Mayor Nichols wn Boston, and leading State and city officials. Referring to the imposing pature of the building, and the facet that it was the largest in the world devoted to the packing of tea, each speaker commented upon the sue- cess which had atiended this great Canadian enterprise in the United States field. Architecturally the building is a handsome ten-story structure, and enjoys the distinction of possessing a pair of the finest bronze doors in the world. These doors, which are the work of Henry Wilson, an English sculptor, were awarded a medal by the French Salon, where models were on exhibition this gpring. They are said to rank in beauty with the doors of the cathed- rals in Milan and Mayence. The interior of the building is notable for the remarkable collee- tion of tapestry, carvings, cloisonne wear, metal work and ceramics. SALADA TEA CO, OPENS NEW BUILDING IN BOSTON, MASS. Speaking about the beauties of the | new building, Mr. Larkin said: | "Of course, you know, we don't; want to be boastful about these works of art. The building is new, ; but we have been mampy years col- leeting some of the nicest things we | have. Mr, Larkin was asked about the report that the Salada Company paid marriage bonuses, "Oh, certainly; we've done that | for years. It isn't much. When ar | employee is married the company | presents a cheque for $1090. And for every child born to an employee we give a like amount." "How about twins and triplets?" chimed in a reporter.
