They have one hundred boxes ready to be used by willing taggers who will assist in the raising of a sum sufficient to look after the needy veterans of the city, and, since two shifts will he emnloyed during the day, a hundred ana fifty people out- side of the members of the Legion and the Legion Women's Auxiliary, will be needed in the work. A meet- ing of those interested in this cause is being held in the Legion Hall, over the Market Place, at eight o'clock Friday evening. This is the first tag day that the local branch of the Legion has held in eight years, and this one should surely merit the generous sunport of the public at large. While they de not helieve that the three under arrest at the present time comprises the entire gang implicated in the thefts, it is though! that this is the beginning of the clearing up of these crimes. The. three youths now in the toils | of the law are Mike Hrocia, arrest- ed this morning and Stanley Sara- mach and a juvenile, arrested in Teronte early yesterday morning. The three are charged with the theft of automobiles and were remanded for a week in order that a full in- vestigation can be 'made by tne lo- cal police with a view to, if poss- ible, celaring up scme of the oth- er automobile and accessory thefts. Saramach apd a boy who is und- er the age of 16 were arrested early Wednesday morning by Toronto po- lice and brought back to Oshawa during the day. They appeared be- fore Magistrate Willis and were re- manded for eight days. The charge against these two youths is that they stole a2 Chevrolet sédan, the property of Mr. Easton, which was taken fror: Albert street between 7 and 9 p.m., Tuesday evening. The car was recovered at No. 6 Police Station, Toronto, and returned to the owner yesterday. Hrecia was ar- rested this morning on a charge of stealing an Oldsmobile touring car, which was found on Centre street with the doors removad. While it is thought that these cars may have been taken merely for th? purpose of a joy-ride, the ac- ihorities are determined, if posse | Lo stamp out this epidemic of steud- | ing cars and joy riding around with them.
