Mary Pickford in "My Best Gir." the feature picture, was directed by Sam Taylor, who is famous for the laughs he put into Harold Lloyd's productions; and the Pik. ford picture fs said to teem with delightful comedy. On the other hand, 'My Best Girl" was written by Kathleen Norris, whose love stories are a delight to lovers of romance and who knows the heart of youth as few other American writers do. "My Best Girl" is the story of a shop girl, Maggie Johnson, who through all the hard knocks she receives, still retains a helief in betfer things, She is an enigma to 'her own family, who cannot understand the idealism with which she paints out the shadows in their lives. It is a marvelous romance of two youngsters walk- ing headlong and blindfolded into the! trap that Fate has set for them. Maggie has a sister whora friendship for a married man near- ly wrecks the whole Johnson fam- ily 'and does play havoc with Mag- gle's pwn romance, Qharles Rogers plays the part of Joe Grant, and it is expected that this handsome youngster, last seen in "Wings," will soon he one of the most popular leading men on the screen, The beautiful Carmelita Geravh- ty is east for the part of Liz John- son, hard-boiled sister of Maggie, Hobart Bosworth, the well known character actor, is the wealthy owner of the hig store and the father of the hero. Since the time she first put on one of her mother's dresses to enact "Romeo" at the tender age of six, she has had an insatiable desire to act, and she indulges in it at every opportunity. When she first tried her hand in the movies, after several years of being everything from eleectri- cian to leading man in school plays, she had considerable trou ble getting enough work to do. Hollywood is full of extra girls, who appeared just as anxious to work as Patsy, Once she did get her chance, however, she never refused to do anything requested of her and never asks for a vaca- tion, During the past twelve months Miss Miller has heen either fea- tured or starred in fourteen big productions and at this writing is planning on continuing just as long as the producers and public want her to, Glen Tryon is co-starred with for a which was directed by minal screen story by Harry O. Two years ago, with never a thought of Hollywood, he was play- ing a trombone in his own collegiate orchestra, and perhaps laying plans for a musical future. A month later, through the perspi- cacity of his father, who se- cured him a sereen test, he was a student in the Para- mount Picture School. Three months afterward, he was chosen for the male lead in the school's "'gradu- ation" picture, *'Fascinat- ing Youth," Soon he ap- peared in "So's Your Old Man," and then he played one of the two leads in "Wings."
