DRUG-SELLERS AND NARCOTIC ADDICTS Winnipeg, May 31.--A whole- sale round-up of drug addicts and paddlers was started by city police authorities Tuesday and Tuesday night 12 persoms, including a man described as "the king 'of local peddlers," were in jail. R. "Bunny" Harris, 24-years-old, the man whom police authorities describe as the "king," was ar rested following an afternoon chase, shared by city detectives and constables. Harris, arrested under a Narcotic Drugs Act charge, is held on $25,000 bail. Harris, the owner of a large automobile, is alleged to have ped- dled the drug from his car. Several times during the afternoon police cars got within hailing distance of! him, while he had his automebile stopped at a curb, but each time he started away quickly before the police could apprehend him. Late in 'the day a lone detective car swooped down om "Bunny" while he was talking to a man in a down- town street.' While the motor squads were seeking Harris, other officers were busy in the round-up of alleged addicts. Downtown rooming houses and boarding places were visited and 11 persoms, including one woman, were brought to police headquarters. Harris and the others will. appear today in court. "We are determined to stop drug trafficking here," declared Chief of Police Chris. H. Newton.
