SHIPS HIS WINTER SPORT TOGS HOME Georgia Tourist Faces the Truth--Had Toboggan, Skis : Sleigh Quebec, July 26.--After travel- ling several thousand miles a United States tourist from Macon, Ga., has finally been convinced that Canada is not perpetually cov- ered -with snow, The Georgian ar- rived here with a toboggan, skis and a sleigh strapped to his auto- mobile all ready to enjoy Quecbecis Winter sports in the less arduocs Winter months of July and August. His chagrin and disappointment were considerable when he rcach- ed this city to find that he must wear a Palm Beaca suit in order to keep cool. I'revious to his ar- rival here the belated visitor had passed through Hamilton, unt, where residents there failed to con- vince him that Quebec was not at present enjoying zero weather. Having no use for his Winter sports equipment unless he re- mained here until January or Feb- ruary, the disappointed visitor shipped his teboggan and the rest of his paraphernalia back to Macon, "I really expected to find snow here, as it has always been my impression that Quebec enjoyed perpetual Winter," the visitor said. "Ag a matter of fact it would bg hard to convince residents of my home city that such is not the case." The Georgian attributed this he- lief in some parts of the Southern United States to the fact that all advertising which is distributed in that part of the country to the south describes Winter sports and the joys of Canadian Winters, while moving pictures of Canada never fail to show a bountiful sup- ply of snow. CANCER TREATED BY NEW LEAD METHOD Buffalo, July 25.--New in the treatment of cancer, 27) methods discov- head of the Nauth-Cabana Lahorator=- ieg, indicate great progress in bac: tling with that disease, according to a statement issued here by the originator of the treatment. Dr. Nauth revealed that he had by which col- loidal solutions of lead would be injected directly into cancerous growths on a patient's hody. Cancer patients have heen treat- ed with the colloidal solution of lead by injecting it {in their veins, it was explained.' Some of the lead reached the tumors and diminished the growths, hut the free lead, carried by the bloods stream, did harsh damage to vital organs of the hody, greatly detract- ing from the efficiency of the lead treatments for tumorous growths, Dr. Nauth has used his machine with its colloidal solution of lead successfully upon several rars which have only healed scars where there were once cancerous growths. COLORED LIGHTS USED IN CHURCH London, July 25.--A new sys- tem of electric lighting has been installed at St, Michael and All Angle's, Stonebridge, and the sys- tem shows what church lighting is likely to he in the future. "Stained glass windows were in- tended to give a beautiful illum- ination in a church," said the vic- ar of St. Michael's, "but at night, and during dull weather, we are deprived' of this. "It has therefore been decided to install a system of articifial lighting which will give all the rich coloring of light falling through stained glass windows." By an extremely intricate sys- tem of switches the illumination of the whole church can be con~ trolled from various points, and in the vicar's stall the touch of a but= ton will instantly flood the whole church with amber or rose light. Different lighting effects will be used during the various stages' of the service. i WOMAN ELECTROCUTED PROVINCE INVESTIGATES Quebec, July 26.--The remains of the late Mrs. H. Halle, nee Anne Marie Dussault, who was electro- cuted when she answered a tele- phone call at 4 o'clock in the morning in her home, have been exhumed and Dr. W. Jerome, the provincial legal medical expert and analyst, has been instructed by the Attorney-General's depart ment to examine the body and re ort. y Mrs. Halle was found by het husband, in har dining room, with her feet over a metal radiator or "heat register," and the telephone still grasped in her hand. It was believed at the time that she had died as the result of a short eir® cuit when a heavy tension wire had fallen over the telephone line.
