TABLET IS UNVEILED ON GREENLEY ISLAND Montreal, Aug. 15.--Today at Greenely Island was unveiled a memorial able to mark the spot where the first successful east to west Irossing of the Atlantii Ocean by a heavier-than-air craft ended. The ceremony, attended by the lighthouse keeper and his family who were hosts to Baron von Huenefeld, Major (now Colonel) J. C. Fitzmaurice and Captain Her- mann' Koehl during their enforced stay at the little island, and also attended by the inhabitants of the little fishing villages in the vilin- ity, was addressed by his Grace Monsignor Leventoux, Bishop of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, and by Ven. Archdeacon Scott, Quebec City. In the meantime the monoplane Bremen, in which the crossing was made, 18 in Quebee City where it has been viewed by large numbers of people. . Marie, Ont., Aug, 15. --The Public School Board is in for a stormy term, if the initial meeting can be taken as an indl- cation. Under the eye of Mrs. Mary Morgan, the five new lady members, who were elected when nine members of the board re- signd recently upon the defeat of a school extension bylaw, voted solidly on every division, and were not defeated once. Every- thing brought up was discussed strenuously and the argument at times became perilously close to personalities. An of hostility between old and new members was unmistakably pres- ent, and several heard about people who resigned and put the board to the necessity of using awkward expedients to get business done. The summer girl this year Is wearing 34 ounces of clothing, ac- cording to a fashion item. The sup- 'position is that she is doing this to reduce.--Sault Dally Star.
