The first rally of Group 1, of the Women's Association of the Lindsay Presbytery was held at Seagrave on Wednesday Shem on, "April 27, 1938. The large attendance was gratefully appreciated by those in charge, con- sidering the very busy time of year. Group I ir »mnrised of the follow- ing "Tome Associations: Green- bank, Pinedale, Manilla, Peniel, Salem, Little Britain, Valentia, Seagrave, Zion (Mariposa), and Pleasant Point. Salem have not a W. A. in connection with their church, but were tepresent- ed by Mrs, Jonah Clarke, who is Presi- dent of the W. M, 8. Peniel were un- able 'to be present on account of a supper and concert in connection with their church that evening. Little Britain was also absent owing to pre- vious engagement. At the opening of the theeting' four of the members of Manilla W. A.: Yiu Mrs. Sonley, Mrs. . Ferguson, Mrs, Carter and Mrs. Raby came to: the front and led in singing several fa- miliar hymns, ~ Greenbank W, A, took charge of the devotional period. Mrs. Jackson read the Seripture reading from Romans 12, Mrs. Dyson led in prayer with the Lord's Prayer in unison. Sang two hymns. -Mrs. Jackson gave a paper entitled "The Worth of a Smile." Mrs. Clements, president of the Seagrave W.A. in a few well chosen words expressed the pleasure of the Seagrave W. A, in having 'the honour of opening their church for this rally, and made each one present feel very much at home iby her words of wel- come, Owing to the non- arrival of the President of the Presbyterial W. A., Mrs. Lehigh of Kinmount, Mrs. H. Eagleson of Seagrave took charge of the meeting, Later a telephone mes- sage was received from Mrs. Lehigh explaining that the delay was due to car trouble, By the assistance of Rev. J. McLachlin ahd the support of the 'ladies present the meeting was carried or on until her arrival. Mrs, C. Mark of Valentia was asked to act as secretary for the afternoon. There was a slight misunderstanding as to the form of the association re- ports to be given at this rally, In- speaking with Mrs, Lehigh later, we found that these reports might have been brought out in the points brought to the discussion 'and so®save time. :- | The following is a list of the places answering the roll call and their re- presentation: Greenbank 7, Pinedale 5, Zion 6, Pleasant Point 6, Manilla 16, Seagrave 20, Valentia 17. Mrs. Swain of Valentia gave an excellent paper on "How I Can Help to Make the W. A, a power for good." Mrs. Swaifi brought out many helpful ideas for any W. A. and quotéd a motto which would certainly help make any organization. successful if each mem- ber would strive to adhere to its thought. ; ; Motto: I will not willingly offend, I will not be easily offended.
