Leask Another of Greenbank's older resi- dents has passed away. The death of Mary McMillan Leask occurred in the Western Haspital, Toronto, on Tues- day, April Tth, 1042, On December 10th, 1941, legs: than a week after she had gone to Toronto to spend the winter months with her daughter, Mrs, Wallace, she fell and broke her hip. She was taken to the Western Hospital where, for four months she lay a patient sufferer and was known to those who miiistered to her as the "Smiling Lady", Born at Greenbank in January, 1866 she was the eldest of the family of the late James and Annie McMillan, In"November, 1887, she married Jas, H. Leask, and with him moved to Seagrave where they lived until Jan- uary, 1920. Her husband predeceased her seventeen years ago. © She con- tinued to make her home in Green- bank until these last few years when it was found necessary for her to give up housekeeping owing to the result ~ She was always keenly interested in the work of the Church, Sunday School and W.M.S, : 'I'he words of the hymn 427 which was a favorite of hers, express the underlying faith in her Master which carried her through the many years of patient suffering. 1 know not what the future hath, UL marvel or surprise; Assured alone that lite and death ths mercy underlies, And if my heart and flesh are weak 'Lo bear an untried pain, 'The bruised reed he will not break, But strengthen and sustain, And so beside the silent sea 1 wait the muffled oar, No harm from Him can come to me Un ocean or on shore, 1 know not where His islands lift Their fronded palms in-air, 1 only know I cannot drift Beyond His love and care. The funeral took place on Thurs- day, April 9th. Rev. Mr. Dyer, New 'Toronto, a Jormer pastor, offered prayer at the home of Mrs. Wallace, 'Toronto, before proceeding to Green- bank United Church, where the ser- vice was conducted by the pastor, Rev, Thos, Wallace, assisted by Rev, J. A. Miller, Toronto, and Rey. H. G. Lester of Seagrave. Interment was made in the Presbyterian Cemetery on the 12th concession of Reach. She is survived by five daughters and one son: Mrs, E. Ferguson (An- ni¢), Cresswell; Mrs. J. N. Wallace (Nellie), Toronto; Howard, Uxbridge; Mrs. D. J, Gunn (Jean), Toronto; Mrs, S. J. Wooldridge (Margaret), Sea- grave; Mrs, G. McDonald (Nettie), rort Perry. Another son Pte.
