Young People's Union The meeting of the Y.P.U. was held on Tudsday evening with Clare Glass and Bob 'Dowson, Conveners of Chris- tian Culture, in charge. The meeting opened with soft music played by Doris Wallace, followed by the invocation by the president, Geo. Channell. A hymn was sung and Bob Dowson offered prayer. The Scripture passage was read by Irene Mulligan. Bob Dowson then. read a poem "Thy Instrument"," "A quartette; . Helen Hayes, Kay Day,Bruce Hull and Wes. She was married to Mr. William Ettey in 1906 in St. Clement's Church, York, England. Mr. and Mrs. Ettey came to Canada in 1912, taking up work on _Scugog' Is- land, Ontario. They moved to Prince Albert in 1913, where they built their greenhouse, and have since then oper- ated their business as florists, Mrs: Ettey had three sisters, one of whom, the late Mrs, Edith Mary Sands, was one time Lord Mayor of Smethwick, England. ; Mrs, Ettey loved flowers, and much of her time was spent helping her husband in the greenhouse among the flower beds. She was most devoted to her family and loved her home. She was gentle, kind and humble; she loved beauty. and artless simplicity. Her 'fine: character was expressed in patient industry, and devotion to duty for her home, her community and her country. Surviving Mrs. Ettey, are her hus- band, and their daughter Gwendoline (Mrs. Fred Lamb) of Manchester, Ont. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Wm. Stocks, Rector of the Church of the Ascension, assisted by Rev. W. C. Smith, of Port Perry United Church. ---- CLARENCE MATTHEW ROBSON A pioneer in motion pictures in To- ronto, Clarence Matthew Robson, 60, vice-president--of Odeon Theatres of Canada, Ltd., died récently at his sum- mer home, "Robsonya", Maskinonge Lake, Keswick, He lived at 708 Cox- well Ave, and had been in ill health some months, . : Mr. Robson was born 'at Port Perry, where he 'received his education. Com- ing to Toronto 40 years ago, he be- came connected with varus amuse- nent enterprises.
