Mrs, Frank Martin and daughter, Mrs. Floyd Oviatt and Mr, Oviatt, of Kirkland Lake, are motoring this week to Saskatchewan to visit with relatives. . Mr, and Mrs. Jas. Mrs, F. Vernon, Mr. and Mrs. Clare Vernon and daughter, attended the Crosier picnic at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Q. The W.A. supper has been cancelled for July, Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jackson on the birth of a little daughter, a sister for George and David, on Friday, July 5th, 1946. Congratulations also to Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Fralick, on the birth of a daughter, on Friday, July 5th, a sister for Linda, A presentation of kitchenware was held on Tuesday evening in the Town- ship hall for Mr. and Mrs. Alan Carter. After dancing was enjoyed for a few hours, the following addrees was read by Ralph Milner: Dear Irene and Alan, -- Again we have assembled in this hall to honour another popular young couple of Scugog. We extend to you our sin- cere congratulations and best wishes on your recent marriage and to assure you of the high regard, esteem and af- fection we entertain for you both, and to wish you many years of happiness together, Neither of you are strangers to us, You both lived all your lives in this locality. Alan, during the years of your youth and young manhood, we have always found you willing to be of service to others. Your cheerful and pleasant manner have won you many friends. You have our admiration for the stand you took in serving your country in the war just ended. Irene, your friendly disposition and courteous manner have endeared you to us all. Our contact with you has always been one of happy association. Our mem- ory goes back to the time when your public school days were ended and it seems only the other day that you finished your high school course and began your training. Then ultimately, the time of your graduation came. Now another milestone is passed. Miss Norma Fines is spending her holidays helping Mr. Gordon McKee in the store at Port Perry. Mr, Eddie Kayes of Oshawa, spent a pleasant week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Martyn, Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Williams, of Reach, visited their daughter Mrs. Laverne Martyn, on Sunday, Port Perry, accompanied her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs, Douglas Crozier, on a motor trip for the past week. Mr. Billie May, of Toronto, is spend- ingi his holidays with his aunt Mrs. S. Rodman, Mrs. Hubert Long visited her cousin Mrs. Joe Dowson, on Saturday. Myrtle Station Mr. George West of Ashburn, oe- cupied the pulpit on Sunday morning and brought a good practical message to his congregation. He will preach next Sunday also, in the absence of Mr. Saywell who is taking a much needed rest. We very much regret that Patsy Lunney's name was omitted last week when writing the results of the public school examinations. Patsy passed from Grade 7 to Grade 8. Miss Mary Ross, of Port Perry, visited with Myrtle friends on Thurs- day, Mr. A. E. Ramsey is on tha job again after a forced rest. Mrs. Harry Barker, of Toronto, spent a couple of days last week with her sister, Mrs. Wilbur Denison, Mrs. Harvey Webster and children, Blackwater, visited on Tuesday of last weak with her aunt, Mra. A. Parrinder. Mrs. R. Spencer, of Perth and Miss E. Brown, of Peterboro, were guests of Miss Viola Lewis from Friday until Monday. Mrs. Cecil Walsh and Miss Nancy Walsh arrived home last week from Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Hunt and Miss Amy Hunt of West Hill, wera guests on Sunday evening of Myrtle friends.
