The Port Perry Yacht Club had every reason to be pleased with the success of their Dance held 'at the High School on Friday evening of last week. The music by Art Asher and His Orchestra was delightful; and there were just enough couples (75) to make the dancing really pleasant. It will be a good idea for Port Perry people to feature more such social en- tertainment this winter. There will be need of such pleasure in the ab- sence of the rink. With a good local orchestra and pleasing dancing floor -at the School, it will be fun to stay in| Port Perry, especially if the snow- banks are as high as they were last winter, Extensive Improve- ments in the Port Perry United Church For some weeks past arrangements - for--extensive improvements to Port Perry United Church have been under discussion, The various projects have been adopted by the Official Board. . They include installation of Steam heating (with erection of separate boiler- room) re-arrangement of the Sunday School Room with increased accommodation for the Primary Department; and com- plete interior re-decoration of the Church - auditorium and Sunday School. } ' This latter project is in process now, and jt is expected to be finished about the end of this month. The work is being done by Mr. Stoneman, of Toronto, a noted expert in church decoration. : It is interesting to see how the pro- blem of high ceiling is mot in the auditorium. The galvanized iron pipe scaffolding is something to see--quite unusual in this district. The Church roof has also been in- sulated. . It is probable that the heating plant will be installed as opportunity offers. In the meantime the present heating system will carry on, When the work is completed, Port Perty United Church will be one of the most beautiful and , well equipped GENEROUS GIFTS A bequest of $1000 was made to the Church by the late William Leonard, who _dlso left some $20,000 to the United Church of Canada missions.
