This quilt is to form a part of a bale that is being packed for a western Canadian mis- sion station. D. Duchemin served lunch after the quilting. Election of Officers, which was to have been held, will take place at 'the next méeting. : A presentation of an end table was made on Friday eveniiig, to Douglas Taylor and his bride in honor of their recent marriage. in the home of Mr, and Mrs. Gardner, 'at Ashburn, and after the presentation by the Myrtle friends, Ashburn com- munity presented the young couple with a miscellaneous shower of many nice and practical articles necessary to. housekeeping, Douglas, before coming to Myrtle, with his parents, "Russell and-Mrs. Taylor, was an Ash- burn boy. After the presents were unwrapped and admired, a sing-song was enjoyed, with Anne, Doug's wife, at the piano. A few games of euchre were played, followed by lunch and the ~ pleasant evening was brought to a "close. We wish to correct an error on our part in last week's issue. A birthday cake cen- tered the bountifully spread table and a special feature of the gay affair was the cutting of the cake. . The evening owas spent in games after birthday greetings were extended to Ralph. The Dave Duchemin's attended the Geer-Pearson wedding on Saturday afternoon. The bride, Ruth Pearson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herb. Fear-' son, is a niece of Mrs, Duchemin. The ceremony was' performed in the home of the bride's parents near Uxbridge, and Dave Duchemin played the wed- ding music. : } ' PORT PERRY C. G. I. T. MEETING - The meeting opened by the repeat- ing of the C.G.L.T: purpose We had a worship service which was followed by the singing of a few Carols. Business was discussed and then we werit to our groups. Games were played and enjoyed by all. The meeting closed with the singing of "Taps". ORMISTON HOLSTEIN IS RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION AT ROYAL For a small breeder to win a grand championship at the Royal Winters Fair is a great feat, and Hugh W. Ormiston, of Brooklin, is consequent- ly receiving congratulations for hav- ing carried off the Reserve.Senior and - Reserve Grand Championship in the Holstein classes with his Excellent cow Forthlyne Dolleta Inka Posch. "Dolleta" provided stiff competition to the Grand Champion Rosehill Fayne Wayne owned by Franlo Farms, Hop- kins, Minn. However, the latter is oné of the very best show cows ever exhibited in the Holstein breed and ' could_not be denied the Championship 'honours. In making his decision Judge Misner stated "These are two of the greatest cows that I have ever seen in one show ring." . "Also receiving congratulations is another small breeder, Oran Cham- bers of Wilfrid; who took the Reserve Championhsip for bulls on his Senior Yearling Way Brook Rag Apple Re- view." Mr. Chambers also showed the 3rd prize Junior Get of Sire. : The climax of the sliow was the showing of the Inter-Provincial herd competition in which there were four Regional entries from Ontario. The winner was the East-Central Ontario District herd shown under the spon- sorship of Fieldman F. Roy Ormiston, 6f Brooklin, Ont."
