This four year- old bull has been classified as XXX and was Grand Champion at the 1948 Ottawa Winter Fair. He is a son of A daughter of Sonniwilk Sovereign that was Jr. Champion at the Ottawa Winter Fair was bought at $1600 'by Mr. Barros. One of the top females was Forth: lyne Dolleta Inka Posch the All-Can- adian Aged Cow and Reserve All- | American Cow for 1948 bought from Hugh W. Ormiston. Mr. Ormiston also received $3,000 for Springdale Lucy Pride, Grand Champion Female at the 1947 Peterboro Championship Show. Eight head were secured from J. J. E. McCague, Alliston, Ont., these con- sisted of three daughters and five grand-daughters of the famous six times All-Canadian "Marksman." The grand-daughters are all from daugh- ters of "Marksman", three of them be- ing 'sired 'by Tolisman, and two by Showdown, One of the Marksman daughters, Glenafton Laurel Phoebe brought $7,600 making her the top pricéd female of the entire group. _ Raymondale Farm, Vaudreuil, Que., contributed a three-year-old daughter of the XXX "Ajax at $3,000 and Oran Chambers, Wilfrid, Ont,, a pair of heifers, one a paternal sister to the second prize milking three-year-old at the Royal at $2,600 and the other a four-year-old prize winner at the On- tario Black and White Show. * Mr. Barros is one of the leading Hol- stein and sheep breeders in Chile. "He has a sixteen hundred acre cattle farm where he maintains a herd of 500 head, 200 purebreds and 300 grades. He secured seven females and two bulls from the first shipment of Can- adian Holsteins which was made to Chile in 1940. Incidentally the seven Impressed by the quality of these cattle he purchased 13 head in 1946 and now has bought 156 more. He will thus have the largest herd of Canadian-bred Holsteins in Chile. His home-bred sheep have consistently beaten imported ani- mals at the leading Chilean shows.
