Never would it be tolerated ifs one person were to have the say, no matter how sound his 'say' was. Grad- uallly the talk ¢eases as the launchers, gather around (he boat searching for, a handhold against which to heave at the sound of the first grunt. Usually the handhold is hot, wet paint or some other characters arm: three contin- gencies on which nothing hinges. All appearing ready, some energetic man with qualities of leadership formerly unknown to even him, grunts . . . I'or the next fifteen seconds everybody grunts so. that it sounds like a pow-wow was in session. The grunting gives over to heavy breathing punctuated by expressions pertaining to the lightness of the boat. The man who did all the 'lifting is then carried to the nearest first aid station while his less energetic brothers remark that he must be get- ting soft, never taking into account that he lifted the boat aided only by their verbal expressions of strain. The strain gradually passes from the lifters to the marine railway, where, eventually, the boat sits wait- ing for the launching. If the proud owner is available he gets into his boat and waits for the remainder to give her the last push. An inter- esting study is the expression on the faces of these owners as they are hurled down the ramp towards the water. Don't blame them for looking a bit panicy when you consider that it is quite easy for the car to jump the track as it hits the water. Thus the P.P.Y.C. fleet is launched every spring. It is a big job requir- ing many man hours and much hard labour, Everybody gets a great kick out of it just the same. This column should have been in last week, but the cruise was news; this is just babble. : PIANO TUNING V. I. STOUFFER Piano Actions Repaired and Regulated Phone 30 Port Perry.
