But for the next 45 minutes of the game Car- negie in the local net put on one of the finest jobs of goal-tending seen here in many a season--this exhibition including stopping breakaways, - labelled .shots from close-ins, and on occasions when his' seen playing two opponents for seconds as he manouvered back and forth in the crease." The home squad failed to tally in the first period as Anderson in the Cambray goal was also doing some fine work, but when Jockett of Cambray and Healey of Port -| went off with majors for fighting © Our grateful thanks to all good friends and neighbours who helped with deeds of kindness, words of sym- pathy and cards during our recent sad bereavement. : ) Mr. Fred Pearce, daughter Eva and son John. FIRST TIME Canadian FIGURE SKATING 'CHAMPIONSHIPS January 17-18-19 'OSHAWA It's Beautiful! IN kai ARENA the locals fired three quick. ones. Dysart got the first from Robin- son, Robinson the second from Christie and Cochrane added an- 'other before the penalties were up. That was all the scoring for the second stanza, bringing the count to 3-1 for Port Perry. In the third. period the scoring was even, each team netting two. Don Mark tallied after five min- utes of play for the locals, while seconds later M. Tamblyn got one back for the visitors. K. Mark 'got the first of a brace of tallies for Port near the eight minute mark, on a pass from Dysart and Robinson, while two minutes later he scored unassisted skating in to use his wingman as a decoy on a rather clever effort. With the homsters then leading 6-2, an un- important puck eluded Carnegie as Carl Tamblyn got his second goal defense tired Carnegie was| -the holidays. for the visitors with some twenty seconds left to play. This ended the scoring for the evening and brought the final result to Port Perry 6, Cambray. 38. Port Perry's effectiveness in registering its third straight win 'on home ice was augmented by the acquisition of Dysart, Ron Wallace and McKee to the local roster. Dysart is a player who shows to be an experienced, strong-skating play-maker while Wallace and Mec- Kee possess speed and vigour that is typical of their youth. Port Perry--Goal, G. Things are batk in swing at P.P.H.S. again.after Exam papers: are beginning to drift back and judg- ing from the papers seen around the halls the students apparently don't cherish them as souvenirs. The cheerleaders are very much in evidence lately as the basketball season has really started. Ux- bridge rolled in to play four rous- ing games on Friday and as we won three of the four games it looks like a' good start. E A dance held after these games was quite successful although the hockey game ran" a little opposi- tion. Try-outs for the Operetta are on now and these account for most all the queer noises you might hear over the low and rumble of band practice. : Inspectors are expected any time in the near future so everyone seems to be on their toes. It looks like an attack of Angelitis but don't be fooled; it's probably temporary.
