Annual Report The mail has just brought us a copy of the annual report of the Bell Tele- phone Co. for 1961, together with a brief resume of local conditions. The . report gives a good idea of the magni- tude of the service given by the Bell Telephone Co., and the work behind that service. The following is the re- sume concerning Port Perry and dis- trict. "In Port Perry 1278 telephones were in service as of December 31, 1951-- an increase of 69 during the year. An additional position was added to the switchboard and at the same time it was re-arranged to improve service, Plans are under way for re-cabling the urban section and increasing the rural lines to permit a further improvement in service. In the final half the local boys really caught fire and tallied 13 to bring the final score to. 52-26. Thus they won the round 101-61 on total points, Picking stars from the winners was an impossible task as team-play was the dominant factor in the victory. The scoring statistics showed Jack Owen with 20, Earl Dobson and Bud Warriner with 9 each, Lawrence with 8, Peel 4 and Redman 2. However, the big feature of the series was the fine team spirit and play shown by the Junior -squad. To sum it up let us say simply 'congratulations' to Ed. PORT PERRY BAPTIST CHURCH ; I.
