After the usual re- ligious period and introductory work we discussed new business. The telephone 'euchres: netted .a total of $67.25 for the Port Perry Hospital, Mrs. Ross Sandison won the grand prize. It was moved by Murs, Rus- nell and seconded by Mrs. 4 Nel- son that the W. A. pay the Church hydro bill. Mrs. R. Sandison said that a letter from Miss R. Wilson informed us she could not come for 'a Sunday service. Members were asked for ideas for decorat- ing the church basement. Group 3 served a truly sumptuous supper. Owing to the very stormy weath- er on Sunday there were not many at church or Sunday School. Congratulations to My, and Mrs. Mansell Gerrow (nee Jessie Walk- er) on the birth of a son on Sun- day, March 16th at the Oshawa General Hogpital. Mr. and Mrs. Riss Sonley of Port Perry were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kendall. Mr. and Mrs. Rudling of Tor- onto visited Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Philp one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Walker and faimly visited her brother Dick Winters at Audley on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Sutherland and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Henry attended a hockey game in Maple Leaf Gardens a week ago. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kendall vis- ited Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kerry of Port Péfry one evening last week. Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Walker attended an Ontario County Holstein ex- ecutive meeting and banquet at the Adelaide House, Oshawa, on Friday evening. Mrs. Herman Walker is helping her sister Mrs. J. Dobson get her new home ready to live in at Man- chester. Quite a number from this dist- rict attended the hockey game in Uxbridge Friday night. This was the first game of the final series 'and Siloam defeated Uxbridge by a score of 4-1. Mrs. R. Wilbur was.in Toronto last Saturday. - = Mr. Wm. Bell has been ill in bed for some time and Mr. Frank Ken- dall has been helping with the chores. Hope Mr. Bell is better soon. Seed Judging COMPETITIONS HELD IN PICKERING AND UXBRIDGE, Two seed judging competitions were held in the County this year. One Saturday, March 8th, the competition was held in Pickering High School; and on Saturday, March 156th it was held in the Department of Agriculture Office at Uxbridge. The contestants were required to judge two classes each of oats, barley, wheat, red clover and alfalfa, and give reasons on their placings. All contestants were also required to iden- tify 20 pressed weed specimens, The competition was arranged and supervised by H. L. Fair, Agricultural Representative, and E. R. Winners, Mixed Doubles Junior Farmers The Ontario County Junior Farmer Association is holding a meeting in the Town Hall, Beaverton on Thurs- day evening, March 27th, at 8.30 p.m. At its last meeting, the executive of the Junior Farmers Association thought that more opportunity should be given for the members of the four Junior Farmer and Junior Institute organizations to meet each other and exchange ideas relating to their club activities. Accordingly, it was de- cided to hold this meeting in Beaver- ton, and the executive is hoping that there will be a good representation from each Junior Farmer group. Bill Boyes, Sceretary of the County Junior Farmer Association will be pre- sent at this meeting, and will give an illustrated talk on his trip to West Virginia last year.
