FERGUSON PICNIC 'The 18th annual picinic of the Fer- guson clan was held at Hampton Park Saturday, July 30th. The day was very hot and farmers were busy with harvest so the attendance was small, but those present had a nice visit in the shade by the pond until supper time, when they did full justice to the excellent repast served by some of the ladies of Hampton W.I. Perry were Sunday Supper guests of Mrs. Kilpatrick and George, On Monday afternoon a fire started in Jack Wilson's pasture north of the railway track and soon spread to the north sidé of the field. It jumped over the town line and Gordon Jones' house was nearly set on fire. The Port Perry Fire Brigade was called and they were able to save the Jones house. The threshing is nearly done. The hot dry weather ripened the grain prematurely this year. We had a gaod rain Saturday evening and Sun- day morning. We had a shower on Thursday & Friday afternoons.
