It won't be long before we will forget that the thermomenter fell to 24 degrees be- low. Our Three.Churches on Sunday were nearly filled. Scugog's Junior Choir was fully robed, and looked real smart in their wine coloured neck pieces and white surplices. Thanks ever so much.again to our ladies for making them, The Choir sang "Holy Spirit hear us," and the Senior Choir "Praise: His Name." At Manchester Susan and Eunice Roach sang "When we walk with the Lord," accompanied by their Father at the piano. Last Saturday evening we had a wedding at the Parsonage, when Shir- ley Anne Eden was given in marriage | to Raymond "Jimmy" Newman; both of the Island. Gladys Hooker was Lady in Waiting, and Alfred Hooker the Best Man. We wish Shirley and Jimmy every joy and happiness. The Stewards of the Island Church met on Sunday afternoon. These are the Officers for the year: Maurice Fralick Chairman; John Sweetman, Secretary; and Keith Crosier, Treas. The matters of heating and caretaking were attended to, & the future augers well for a warm Church. The Stew- ards are planning their Canvas, and we know that they will meet with a very fine reception. There will be a meeting of ALL STEWARDS of the PASTORAL CHARGE in the Man- chester Church next Sunday afternoon at 3.00 p.m. to go over the Financial Statement, and to go into the matter of Estimates for the New Year. And SRL Thesis M VEN AE dat NF EE EAR ELE AIS. $30 . A Nx wae addin ig shod = ing to note that the basic service fee in A, I. has remained the same since its inception, while the cost of opera- tions has continually climbed higher. The only way to offset this cost is by increased volume of business. In fu- ture more cows will be bred by fewer technicians driving fewer miles, This saving in the technical end. of the operation will allow a bigger per- centage of the breeder's dollar to be used in the advancement of breeding techniques such as frozen semen equip- ment, and the buying of top sires. { The buying of top sires has become very competitive in the past'few years with A.L. Units, foreign buyers, and wealthy breeders competing with each other for the best prospective herd sires. "Central Ontario" will be of- fering service to top sires of the Hol- stein, Jersey, Guernsey, Ayrshire, Dual Purpose Shorthorn, Scotch Shorthorn, Hereford, Angus and Red Poll breeds. In the not too distant future this unit shduld be inseminating over 100, 000 cows annually, It is planned to keep about fifty-bulls in the stud. This merger consolidating these two units into one powerful Co-operative will be hailed as a great boon to the Cattle industry in this part of the Province. A most enjoyable evening was spent at the Centre School last Wednesday when Scugog Home and School Asso- ciation met for their January meeting. Mrs. Hunter introduced our guest for the evening, Mr. Cornish of Port Perry.
