P. and Mrs. Romeril of the United Church and Rev. and Mrs. Campbell of the Presbyterian Church. All three ministers, also Mrs. Chaper- lin gave brief talks. - Leonard Saun- ders sang two numbers accompanied by Mr. Jack Smith. A sing-song with Rev. Romeril at the piano was enjoyed by all. Mr, Chas. Smith gave violin numbers accompanied by Mr. Jack Smith, after which games were played and a delicious lunch served by the Men's Club and W.A. Mr. & Mrs. Geo. Wolfe were iets at a reception given for the Press by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and Mrs. Bruthaupt in the vice regal suite at Queen's Park on Tuesday, May 7th. Mrs. Wolfe is pleased to state that $107.65 was handed in from the dif- ferent organizations and the school for the cancer fund. Misses Catherine Bailey, Beth Me- Mullen and Elenor Shemilt and Messrs Ardis McArthur, Gerald, Allan and Leslie Asselstine and Larry Ashton attended the Anglican Y.P.U. Festival in Orillia Friday evening to Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Pollock and Martyn with the Dalton Dorrell's Sunday. W.M.S. of the United Church met at the home of Mrs. Stuart Dorrell on Wednesday p.m. with 15 ladies and 6 children in attendance. President opened with a poem then a hymn was sung. Mrs. Russel Mountjoy read the scripture passage and gave an excellent paper on "Some instances in the Ministry of Jesus" and led in prayer. Roll call was "Something of interest I heard on Radio or T.V." After the regular business Mrs. Cecil Hill gave the chapter of Study Book "Indonesia". Mrs, Roy Taylor read a paper on "Stewartship of Time", Mrs. Fred Dayes read "A letter from Mother", Closed by sing- ing a hymn and prayer by Mrs. Ernest Larmer, after which the group served lunch. A highlight of the meeting was having Mrs, Earl Dorrell able to attend. Fine services were held in the Unit- ed Church Sunday morning, Mads. Lorne Thompson, Harold Kyte and manville, : Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Bradburn and Donald, Toronto, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bradburn and family. Mrs, J. W. Bradburn joined them for Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Russel Fletcher and girls, Kitchener, were week-end guests of her brother and wife Mr, and Mrs. Harold Kyte and family. Misses Donna Me- Laughlin and Verna Harris sang "Je- sus Wants Me" and Mrs. P. Romeril told the story to the adults of "Made. line Mines of the Bahamas", a lady who befriended Mrs. Romeril when she first went to the Bahamas, as well as being a real friend to all lonely or needy persons. A very fine Christian Family Day, service was held in the Anglican Church Sunday morning. Canon Cha- perlin based his excellent sermon on "The Strength of the Nation depends on the Unity and Faith of the Family". Mrs. Periman and Mrs, Hudson, of Columbus were guests of the formers daughter, Mrs. Lorne Hoskin and Mr. Hoskin, Sunday. ; Mr. and Mrs, Robt. Ford Jr. and Roberta and Miss Jean Ford, Toronto, Ford Sr. Mrs. Jno. Coulter and Mr. Norman Coulter, Toronto with Mr. and Mrs, Mr. 'Jno. Smith is, visiting friends in St. Joseph's Island. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sheffield, Osh- awa were Sunday, dinner guests of Mr, and Mrs. Cecil Hill, The Bishop of Hains, the Right Rev. and Hon. 'P. W. Gibson, visited Canon and Mrs. Chaperlin at the Rec- | tory, Blackstock, on Thursday. The Bishop is on a special visit to Canada. The degree of Doctor of Divinity was conferred on him recently in Montreal. Owing to a destructive earthquake in Jamaica at the beginning of March this year from 80 to 90 Church build- ings in the west end of the island have | been destroyed or damaged, and there has been much destruction to houses and other buildings. The Bishop is appealing for financial help to restore the damaged' buildings, and needs about £60,000 in addition to the in- surance claims. Canon Chaperlin is .the Bishop's Commissary in Canada, and will be pleased to forward any donations which may be made for the Jamaica 'Earthquake Fund -to the Bishop of Jamaica, who returns to his Diocese later on this month, after filling prea- ching and speaking engagements in Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Kitchen- er and Hamilton. Reeve Green and Councillor Wright. Mr. Turner from Rowans: Beach discussed condition of Park St. and Centre St. Council to inspect May 8. Mr. Matchett Jr. was also present re- garding water off road flooding his property. George Blyth, Mr. Robatille and Ollie Weatherault discussed se- curing workmen's Compensation for fire brigade volunteers and other as- sistance, on motion of Coun. Wright and Hyland, council to secure $2000.00 protection per man for sixteen men and give a grants of $200.00 for year 1967. On motion of Coun. Wright and Tre. win, tenders to be posted for garbage collection. Tenders close May 21st, 12.00 o'clock noon. Moved by Coun, Trewin and Hyland, by-law request- ing supplementary grant of $10,000.00 be passed. Moved by Coun. Wright and sec. by Coun.
