There are six empty stores in Port Pemry now. Four have announced their closing in the past few months. All bowing to the pressure from a town that has ALL facilities for one-stop shopping. Vie LIKEWISE these same Business-men contribute nearly 70% of charitable donations collected in Port Perry during a year. These donations are cheerfully made. In fact no charitable call ever goes out that is not generously answered by our community of Business-men. Teenagers Enjoy Hallowe'en Ball By Jimmy Taylor A very successful dance was held on Halloween night at the Port Perry Public School, when Port Perry Teen Town honoured its Softball Champ- ions, and the proceeds of the dance and lucky draw will be used to buy windbreakers for team members, A donation of $50.00 from the Port Perry Lions Club has been gratefully recei- ved and will be used to buy crests for the jackets, This was a "First Time" experi- ment for a dance on Halloween Nite, and has been termed a success by the Public School Principal, Mr. Roy Cor- nish and the Public School Board members. The Board Chairman, Mr. Storey Beare, Councillor Tom Harris and their wives very ably acted as chaperons and judges of costumes. Seventeen prizes were given out for best costume, most humorous costume, ete, . . five of these been given to five girls 'whom the judges failed to fit into any particular category other than "Out of This World". Joanne Buller, Flapper Girl, (We think the stuffed dog is cuter than Wayne, Joanne); Hillis Wilbur, Negro, (Right from Harlem); Marilyn Luke, Flap- per Girl, (She was flapping all over). Betty Wallis and Jenniffer Edwards as a 'pair of Black Jacketed Motor- bike Riders, complete with sideburns, cigars and a pair of tricycles won spe- cial prizes.
