Charles W, McInnis, President of the Association, and Eldred Aiken, Chairman of the Marketing Board, re- ported that about 80% of Ontario hog production is now moving through marketing points and the other 20% would very likely be directed through these points by the end of 1958. General-Manager Jake Kohler and Secretary Jas. Boynton placed heavy emphasis on need for continuing information to producers now that a large percentage of Ontario hogs are moving through marketing points, -A feature of the two-day .session was a panel discussion dealing with vertical integration, panel discussed the trend towards contract farming and pointed up the many dangers which faced producers in this type of farming, The meeting called for research in field of transportation and the matter of establishing marketing points at economic locations, Delegates at the meeting were urged to consider the + | possibility of establishing co-operative marketing points which are owned and controlled by farmers themselves, The Burford marketing point was cited as an example of this form of co- operative: effort. _ Anson Gerrow, Scugog, and Alex. Junior Red Cross Campaign The Girls and Boys of Port Perry Public School wish to thank all the people in Port Perry who assisted them with their recent Junior Red Cross Campaign. The pupils sold empty pop bottles, shovelled snow, shared their allowances, acted as baby sitters, ete. in order to raise money for this important enterprise, The total amount realized was $187.05. All the Public School children in Ontario are given the opportunity to help the Junior Red Cross during the month of February in each year. The Junior Red Cross finances many worthy projects throughout the 'en- tire province.
