Cartwright school supplied the demonstration class with which Mr. Young seemed well pleased. Congratulations to the pupils and teachers of Cartwright Central school and their music teacher Mr. Gay for the music standings they received at the music Festival in Peterboro last week. The school entered in eight classes and received a prize in each as follows:--Boys chorus, first with 83 . points; Girls chorus, first with 83 points; Rythm Band, first with 84 points. This was the highest mark of any entry on Thursday. School chorus, grades 4, 5 & 6, second prize, 82 points; School chorus, grades 7 & 8, second prize, 80 points; School cho- rus, grades 1, 2 & 38, second prize, 83 'points; School chorus, T. A. B. (three part) second prize 77 points; School chorus, fiddle and drum, third prize, 81 points. There were several individual 'entries as Cheryl Metcalf; Linda Kyte; Floyd Kyte; Leonard Saunders and Peter Gay on vocal solos. Cheryl Metcalf and Patricia Adams; Janice Sadler and Lorraine Dayes; Dorothy Gay and Donna Dow- ney, vocal duets. Nancy Dorrell; Cheryl Metcalf, piano solos. All of the above ranging from second to 6th placing which we think is pretty fine as some of the classes had 35 compe- titors. Nancy Dorrell also received second prize for sight reading in class 8 years and under. The Couples Club gathered at the church Wednesday evening, then went to Bowmanville and Bowled, after which they returned to the -home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Forder for re- freshments and a little visit to finish off their social evening. - Miss Ruth Marlow, Toronto; Mv. and Mrs, Wallace Marlow; Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Thompson; Mr. and Mus.
