We will obtain an answer and publish it in this column. Following are some questions with answers which may be of interest to you:- Q. My husband is in the R.C, M, P, and is frequently moved around. I have to move with him, Sometimes he is near a city and sometimes not. I am a comptometer operator and I don't want any othef employment for fear of losing my skill. At present I am not employed. Can I claim benefit? A. By limiting yourself to accept- ance of employment only as a com- ptometer operator you may be dis- qualified as not being available for work, particularly as in some of the places to which you move such work is non-existent. Q. I had to leave my job this win- ter 'because of sickness. Now I am told I cannot colfect even though I have always paid in. Why is this? A. Payment of benefit may be con- tinued to a person who falls ill, or be- comes injured, or is quarantined, while already receiving benefit. Benefit is not paid to a person who loses his employment because of illness, ete. and is incapable of doing any work. Q. If I am penioneed off from the place I work and receive a pension of $100 a month am I entitled to draw unemployment insurance? : A. Yes, provided you are able, ready and willing to work, and fulfil all the other conditions of entitlement to benefit. Q. I have been out of work for some time and am drawing unemploy- ment insurance benefit. My neigh- bour who is ill has offered to pay me $10 a week to do some light work in his cellar. If 1 take the job can I still draw my benefit? A. Whether or not you will be able to draw benefit while working for your neighbour will depend on the hours Or Employment? / : worked, nature of the work, and so on. It is suggested that you consult your local office, giving full particulars. In any event, be sure to report to your local office all work that you do while on benefit, and all earnings. Q. For ten years I have been a car- penter, and I have my card. Last winter I worked for two months as a lumberjack, If I refuse to perform a similar job this winter will I be re- fused benefit? A. If work as a lumberjack is con- sidered by the insurance officer as suitable employment for you, having regard to our physical condition, age, | past work history, etc, and you re- fuse such a job without good cause, you may be disqualified for a peridd up 'to six weeks. Q. I have just been offered a job with the same employer for whom I last worked and with whom I could not get along. Will I be disqualified if I refuse this job? A. This will depend upon whether or not thé insurance officer considers the employment suitable and whether or not he considers that you have good cause for failure to accept the job. = He will take into account your reasons for having separated from this employer previously and any changes which there may now be in the conditions of employment. Q. Would you kindly let me know: if a person who has worked during 14 weeks since March 27, 1967, is en- titled to seasonal benefit? A. To qualify for seasonal benefit, you must have had at least 16 contri- bution weeks since March 27, 1957. However; you can qualify for seasonal benefit this winter even though you have had less than 16 contribution weeks since March 25, if you had a regular benefit period that has ended after April 15, 19567. Q. If a person is receiving Work- men's Compensation benefit for four or five weeks, does he have the right to unemployment insurance benefit? A. The receipt of Workmen's Com- pensation gives rise to two questions. The first is whether the person is ca- pable of work as required under thé Act, and the second is whether the money received as Workmen's. Com- pensation is to be taken into account as earnings in determining the amount of benefit payable, The answer to these questions depends on. the part- icular circumstances existing in each case. It is therefore important that a claimant should advise the local office whenever he is in receipt .of Workmen's Compensation so that the facts may be submitted to the insur- ance officer for a decision, PORT PERRY LIONS CLUB BINGO and DANCE Draw for BOAT, MOTOR and TRAILER in Port Perry Memorial Gardens on: SATURDAY, AUGUST 2nd. © 8.80: pm. - -- DANCING -- Admission: 650c,P, 8, Children. 26c.
