The immediate goal of the campaign is to reuduce traffic accidents during the Christmas and New Year's Holiday season. Many police departments have ne dicated they intend to step up their education programs as well as increase their traffic law enforcement activi- ties during this highly dangerous. per- iod. Their efforts will be strongly sup- ported by a broad advertising and pub- licity program using every appropriate medium of public information includ- ing daily and weekly newspapers, radio and TV stations, farm and fo- reign language publications, bus and street car cards and outdooy signs. Advertising will, concentrate on alerting motorists. to the dangers of drinking and driving, and on remind- ing pedestrians to be on guard against the dangers of increasing darkness, rigorous weather conditions, thought- less indulgence, and the hurry and ex- citement of shopping and holiday fes- tivities, A special kit of safety promotional materials emphasized.
