This afternoon, Monday, we shall' lay ' Mr. John Pearce to rest. What more could one ask? He lived to be 94 years old, and saw_his grandchildren happily married; and held in his hands his great-grandson: He was tenderly cared for by his 'children, and had a host of friends dropping in ever so often'to see him. But the years take their toll, These earthly bodies are not made to last forever; and for that, we give God thanks, They serve us well; and then the time comes when we outgrow them, and leave them be- hind. We shall treasure many happy memories, and. look forward to seeing again, "those. whom .we have loved, and, lost awhile," Our deepest sym- pathy and love to. all the members of the family. . We missed many faces on Sunday; but our summers 'are so short, that we must take advantage of these lovely days to do our visiting, - We are fortu- nate on the Island to have so many come to us during the summer; and it is a joy to have them worship with ps. On Sunday our Choir sang "My Jesus [1 love Thee;" and Mr, A, E. Rapsom, of Toronto, sang "His Eye is on the Sparrow", I think we bad more sum- which still gavéVus a very good con- gregation) 'Theré were many cars at the "Head" Church. = The 'Minister's téxt was -- "Whatsoever things from without 'entéreth into fifan, cannot de- file him, That whiéh-cometh out of thie 'man,, that defileth the man," Every year at Guelph at the 0.A.C., a. course is given for Ministers and their wifes. There are lectures in the mornings for the men in some phase of agriculture, This. year it will be The Chemistry of the Soil. Then in the afternoon there are various ex- plorations, The ladies are given courses in. Woodwork, and weaving, and they all go on various excursions. Your Minister and Mrs. Braham will he attending this College this week, and. will be home again on Friday evening. There are so many wonder- ful things taking place, on the farm, that to become acquainted with some of them makes us more thankful that we live in the country, . On Sunday, the Junior Choir will sing for us. We hope that there will be a full choir, and we shall look forward to the inspiration of having yon sing Auction Sales MONDAY, AUGUST 8rd--20 Reg, and grade Hereford Cattle, Tractor, Truck, Implements, Furniture, the property of Ben Davidson, lot 9, con, 14, Cavan, 4 miles south of Omemee. Fisher of Néwedstle had been stricken down with a heart attack. Rev. Mr. Fisher is well known in the Prospect and Manchester area; and was also our anniversary preacher last year on the Island. Our sympathy and prayers go out on his behalf, and also behalf of his dear family. The strain and stress of life do take their toll. We are so thankful that Mr, Frank Crosier can be around again, and even drive the car once more, ©" We send a word of hope to all who are shut in.
