It Won't Be Long Now! My how the time does fly. It seems only a few days ago that we still felt that winter was yet to come. But here it is right now! and its only about three deep breaths and Christ- mas will be here. Yes sir Santa will pay his first visit to Port Perry this season on Decem- ber the 12th and you can take it from me that from then on it will be a mad scramble to get all those items cross- ed off your Christmas list in time for the big DAY. (See mailing dates elsewhere in this paper). To really put the minds of adults and children in the right mood for the gala season the folk of Port Perry are planning a warm welcome for the jolly old Saint in just over a week. Bands and floats and other vehicles will all meet him at the edge of the town just one week from Saturday. Have you your float ready for this big parade? or is your car decorated? Do the young folk want to put on clown suits? Fine! Let's all come wearing our biggest smiles as well as our fancy decorations and make this the very best welcome our friend Santa has ever received. The Parade will start at 2.30 where Scugog St. and Queen St. join and will continue on down Queen St., then north along Water St. to the Arena where Santa will meet the boys and girls and gifts of candy will be given them. There will also be a lucky number draw at 2 p.m. in front of the post office when 6 hampers of grocer- ies-will -be drawn for and a second draw will be made at 4 p.m. when another 6 baskets of groceries will go to the holders of the lucky numbers. A word of ap- preciation must be passed on to the council, that they have had these signs posted at the Lake front, and it has been noticed that these signs have had attention paid to, and those who would like to venture on the ice have stayed off.
