Our service last Sunday was an '"'explained" Com- munion and we are indebted to Mr. C. A.Glass for his interesting and inform- ative words of explanation of the parts of this sacred service. Although this was arranged primarily for the Confirmation candidates, all of us were able to benefit from it. Mr. Fuller's sermon, titled "God the Father" was an interesting and intro- duction to his Lenten series of five sermons on the Creed. Rev, Canon C. D. Cross of Oshawa will give the second in the series next Sunday, Mar. 13th, entitled "Jesus Christ Our Lord". The Afternoon Guild held its regular business meeting in the church hall on Tuesday, March 1st, as snow pre- vented the 'members getting to the home of Mrs, Germain, as scheduled, A business meeting was held, includ- ing reading of minutes and treasurer's report. Members were advised of the Women's World Day of Prayer service on Friday. The Wednesday Lenten service this week will be at 10 a.m. and will in- clude a tape-recorded talk by Most Rev. H. C. Clarke on "The Holy Com- munion and You". Lenten Wednes- day Communion service will be alter- nating between 10 a.m, and 8 p.m, for the next few weeks. Members of the adult Confirmation class are asked to note that their meetings will take place on alternate Wednesday evenings after service, so no service this week. The young peo- ple's class will continue.to meet in the parish hall on Thursday after school. The Evening Guild will meet on Monday, March 14th, at the home of Mrs. Rennie, Mrs, Dowson will con- tinue our study on Africa, and the hostesses will be Mrs. Bell and Mrs, Boothman, The teenagers of our parish are re- minded that the District Youth Coun- cil service of praise will be held this Sunday, March 13th at 8 p.m. at Grace United Church, Scugog. Chairman Garnet Parrott will have charge of the service, together with Linda Fralick. Dr. M. B. Dymond will speak on "The Refugee Problem" and there will be a panel discussion on this topic "with members of the executive taking part. Some of the young people will provide music and there will be a sing-song. A social time will follow. It is hoped that our Anglican young people will other teens in Christian fellowship. The W.A and also the Board of Man- agement met on Tuesday of this week. Details will be reported next week. Sunday School teachers are remind- ed that their meeting is tonoght at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs, C. Williams. The Port Perry Area Ministerial Association net last Friday at Green- bank Manse, Mr. Linstead led in the study of the second chapter of the study book which our minister's group is working on. Members of Mrs. Kenny's and Mrs. Becker's classes will join together this Sunday March 13th, when Mrs. Fuller has kindly agreed t¥ show them the vessels used in the Communion service and explain their use. Many of us enjoyed Mr. Fuller's re- cent articles in "The Anglican" de- scribing his recent undertaking of the Indiana Plan of group work in Osha- wa, We wish Mrs. Hayes a speedy re- covery from her illness. Prince Albert . Mr. R. Butson filled the post of Supt. at Sunday School. Missionary article was provided by Mrs. C. Newn- ham. Birthday pennies were dropped in the wee church by Beth Hunter, Linda Tripp and Jo-anne Middleton. We are glad to see Mr. and Mrs, Mulvey residing in their home again. Mr. F. Vickery, Mr. and Mrs. L. Beacock dined with Mr. and Mrs. L. Devitts', all attending the funeral of 'a cousin Mrs. E, L. Vickery, Oshawa, 'on Monday. Tuesday night marked the annual "Open House" at the Area and junior schools. Principal Mr. Becker greet- ed the public in the corridor upon ar- rival. The parents and friends were also welcomed by the teaching staff-- Mrs. Hodgins, Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Beck- man, Mrs. Martyn and Mr. Booth- man. In each room the spectators felt free to observe the work books on display, also examine the wall ex- hibit. The evening in general des- erves favourable comment to the pupils. and his or her teacher. Friday night in spite of uncertain weathér conditions outside, everyone enjoyed themselves inside when Miss Beth Hunter gaily entertained about twenty young folk to a variety party for one special occasion, Beth's birth- day. | Nearing the last lap of the even- ing Miss Nola Hunter (on behalf of the group) presented a daintily wrap- ped gift to Beth who accompanied by a feeling of surprise unwrapped the | parcel to find a lovely white sweater | for which the recipient voiced her thank-you in a joyous manner. All joined in singing "Happy Birthday". The meeting opened with hymn "Take my Life and Let it be". Mra. Dobson read the Seripture lesson, Cor. 11:8-6 and Mrs, Holtby gave the Tople on "Living Epistles". Mr.. Braham led in prayer and the Lord's Prayer was repeated in unison, The President, Mrs. Fielding con- ducted the business. The roll call was answered by twelve members and two visitors. The minutes were read and approved. The financial state- ment given, and ten dollars to be paid to W.M.8, fund.
