The subject of oil, its discovery, de- velopment and usage was very inter- esting, and the cartoon film which accompanied this address made it Honeydale "WOMEN'S INSTITUTE TRAINING SCHOOL" Fifteen ladies participated in the Local Leaders' Training School course entitled, "148 lbs. of Meat", the amount consumed by the average per- son in one year. This course was under the capable supervision of Mrs. Violet Bell and Miss Maimie McLaren and is sponsored by the Dept. of Agri- culture, Extension Branch, Home Eco- nomics Service. The first session was held Wed., Feb, 14th, 2-4 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Sam Cawker. This course deals with the place of meat in Canadian meals, inspection and grading, identification of cuts modern methods of cooking, ideas for left-overs, carving and serving, ete. A large part of the food dollar goes to buy meat, and the course is design- ed to help the homemaker spend that money to the best advantage.
