NTARIO, THURSDAY, MAY 31st, 1962 O\WNUAL CADET INSPECTION AT THE PORT PERRY HIGH SCHOOL The Annual Cadet Inspection of the Port Perry High School was held on Thursday, May 25th on the High School Campus. Students and teach- ers alike were greatly relieved that the weather was cool and bright pro- viding pleasant conditions for hold- ing this important event. The Inspecting Party consisted of Capt. Dawson, Officer Commanding, Ontario Regiment; Capt. Hutton, H.Q. Central Ontario Area; Mr. Beare, Education and his wife. trophy was presented to Major Jim Read for the best cadet in the school. This trophy is donated by Howard Hall, Gord Goode, Ted Griffen and' Grant Michell. The events followed the usual pat- tern, with inspection of the ranks, the march past and demonstrations by the*Bren gun teams, Signal teams, girls Physical education classes and by the band. For a number of years the Port Perry High School Cadet Corps were the winners of the coveted Strath-' cona Shield. Blue Ray Chapter Entertains A large nuniber of members and guests gathered together in the Ma- sonic Temple, Queen Street, recently, to honour the presiding matrons and patrons as well as the associate mat- rons and patrons from the various chapters throughout the district, The meeting was opened in regular form with all officers in their res- pective stations with the exception of four. These duties were capably carried out by Fast Mattons Adelia White and Jessie Espie, Alice Thom- [ cy and Ruth Mark. The opening ceremonies were car- ried out in a very impressive manner and the Worthy Matron, Doris Not- tingham, in her gracious manner gave the honoured guests a very warm welcome and was assisted 'by |- the Worthy Patron Leonard Colbear. Chapters were represented from Sunbeam, Sunland, Whitby, Starlight, Durham, Markham, ' Aloha, Ontario, Eastdale, West Hill, . This production included pupils trom Blackstock, Seagrave, Uxbridge and Port Perry classes. The auditorium was attractively decorated for the secasion with spring flowers; it was filled to capacity with relatives and friends. The pertormers ranged in age four years to the late teens, Space does not permit detailed descriptions of the various costumes which were so well designed and blended; but the showmanehip of each child was commendable in the ver- satile performance of ballet, tap and baton. This year the program was' so arranged that everything was carried out in record time without any undue hold-ups. . The guest artist from Toronto, Mr. Ron. Kopas, who is Miss" Bright's AT Sunday Baseball sa instructor, has won many laurels among which is the Senior Canadian National: Championship and the Milit- | ary March Championship. Her corsage was of peach tinted carnations. The groom's grandmother, Mrs. Denyes chose a Cinnamon Brown ensemble and an Apricot tinted carnation cor- sage.
