The auditorium of Cartwright Cent- ral Public School was packed with parents and friends on Thursday ev- ening when the pupils from all grades under the direction of the Music Su- pervisor, Mrs. Carol Wannacott pre- sented a very interesting evening's entertainment of Songs, Folk Dances, Rhythms and Choruses in two and three parts. All were well done and greatly appreciated. This was done by Mrs. Wannacott and the teachers to let parents and any interested see what is being accomplished in school by music. Great credit is due all wno help in this fine work. Those who attended the Town and Country Club dance on Friday night report a splendid time and the music provided by Charles Cochrane Orches- tra of the best quality. Prizes were won as follows: Statue Dance, Brian Hamilton and Miss Wendy Howard; Spot, John and Mrs. Nesbitt; Elimin- ation, Glenn and Mrs. Larmer; An- other Spot, Jim Jamieson and Mrs. Sinclair Robertson. The beautiful floral decorations were arranged by Mrs. Gib Marlow. Mrs. Ken Lee was in charge of the guest book. A bounteous buffet luncheon was enjoy- ed during intermisison, ' Mrs. J. A. McArthur and Miss Betty and Mrs. Norman Dysart in absentee were hostesses for a linen and lin- gerie shower in honour of Miss Joan Venning on Saturday night. 25 or 80 guests spent a very pleasant evening. The bride-to-be, and to whom this shower was a complete surprise had to perform many interesting stunts before entitled to open the numerous lovely gifts. After which Joan very graciously expressed her thanks, and the hostess served a dainty lunch. Grades 2 and 3 of Public School under the direction of Mr. Grant Campbell have organized a ball team. Their first game was played in Black- stock May 15th when Port Perry boys won 10-9. The second game was in Port Perry May 22nd and Blackstock: won 22-19. game each Tuesday after school. Mrs. Geo.
