The Grade nines are even better than some of the Grade twelves, although the Grade twelves hate to admit it. The inter-school Track and Field meet to be Sept. 27. This means that our Track and Field meet will be on Sept. 20th. There were a number of stiff-jointed people in school these passsed two weeks, but don't worry we'll be in shape by Sept. 27th. The boys have started Football prac- tice, so let's give them all a cheer and wish them a successful year. Not only to the football players but to the whole school, good luck and a successful year. Tear your heart out ' for your school and you'll find it most rewarding. Letter fo the Editor September 12th, 1962 The Editor, Port Perry Star, | Port Perry, Ontario. Dear Sir; Might I ask your assistance through publication of this letter? I am work- ing on a project designed to collect together information on the early ar- tists of Canada before the memory of them has been completely lost. I have a note that J. B. Faint of Port Perry was winning prizes for his paintings at the Provincial Exhibition of 1866. Do any of your readers know anything about him, or about other early artists or sculptors who were working in the Port Perry area? Any leads which could be given to me would be much appreciated. I might add that information about those Canadian artists and sculptors who were born before 1867 is to be| incorporated into a dictionary which is to be published. I hope that it will be a record of one phase of our-cult- ural past, and include people from: all parts of the Dominion who have played a role in our artistic back- ground. Yours sincerely, J. Russell Harper, Curator of Canadian Art. The National Gallery of Canada Ottawa Greenbank The S. S. Rally will be held next|- Sunday following the Church service.
