Port Perry Minor Hockey House League News Saturday morning proved to be a good morning for some of the goalies because of the five games played their were five shutouts, BANTAM In the first game of the morning, Blackstock defeated Pickard's team 1-0. This was a close hard fought game with both goalies making some key saves. Minshall scored the only goal of the game. There were two penalties, Durham for tripping and Dunsmore for interference. Because Blackstock continue to use an unsign- ed player Pickard's team received the win by default. In the second game McMaster's team defeated Scott's team 1-0. Boy Scout News The highlight of B Cub Pack Father and Son dinner, Feb. 16th, catered to by the Guide Mothers was the presen- tation of a 15 year service pin to Cub- master Gordon Goode, in recognition of loyal leadership in the Scout move- ment in Port Perry, by Field Commis- sioner W. J. Harpur, of Gamebridge. Mr. Harpur also presented Assistant Cubmaster Charles Reesor with a Basic Pack Scouters Training Certi- ficate, recognizing leadership train- ing which he has taken. Toastmaster was Leslie McDonald, with Group Committee members Ralph Taylor, Don Milne and Harry Short assisting in the arrangements, together with Cubmaster Goode. Head table personnel were: Com- .misisoner & Mrs. Harpur, Cubmaster Stanley Ploughman, Padre Rev. E. W. Fuller, Akela Gordon Goode and son Gregory, and Leslie McDonald. Padre Fuller returned Grace and in a few well chosen words, Mr. Harpur referr- ed to Scout Week, Feb. 17-24 and the theme, "Scouting Round the World". Stan. Ploughman also spoke a few encouraging words of advice to fa. thers and sons. Following the dinner, everyone ad- journed to the upstairs, and with the leaders" in charge; fathers and sons enjoyed a half hour of songs, games and skits, having a wonderful time together, The smaller individual pack dinner brings fathers and sons closer together in the common understand ing of the meaning of Cubbing and Scouting. This was the second such 'dinner, with C Pack next on March 16th. In recognition of Scout Week and honoring the bjrth, of the founder, Lord Baden- Powell, Feb, 24th-has been designated as B-P' Sunday. Local Brownies, Guides; Cubs, Scout and Rovers will be attending in uniform, the church of their choice on this date. At this time all members of the movement thank the general public for their interest in and support of their program throughout the year in Port Perry, and 'hope that another year will bring more and greater ac- complishments in Guiding and Scout- ing.
