The first one an electric frypan donated by Hydro went to Mrs. Neil Werry Other prizes were donated by Black- stock and Port Perry Merchants, Approximately 135 partook of the | bounteous roast beef meal served by by the Mothers' Auxiliary for the Father _and Son Banquet of the Scouts and Cubs on Saturday night. Grace was said by Rev. P. Romeril. Following the dinner the "Queen" | was sung with Cub Glen Malcolm at | the piano. Mr, Ross Duff, president of the group committee was M.C. and proposed the toast to the "Queen". Duff introduced the head table guests: President. of the Mothers' Auxiliary --Mrs. Irene Hudson; President of the 0.N.0O.--Mrs. Gwen Ballingal; Akela of Cubs--Mrs. Jean Adams; Glen Mal. colm; Guest Speaker--Mr. Jack Eil- beck; Ross Duff and Graham; Rev. P. Romeril and Dennis; Blake Gunter and Richard. A toast to the Fathers was pro- posed by Glenn Malcolm and replied to by Mr. Harold Kyte. A toast to the sons was proposed by Mr. P. God- frey and Bobby McLaughlin gave the response. Mr. Duff then called on Ray Mountjoy who presented the Trophy for Best Camper for the year 1962 to Dennis McLaughlin. Mrs. Jean Adams gave the report of the year's work of the Cubs and Blake Gunter, Scout Master reported the Scouts year's work. George Wolfe presented Bob Ednie, the retiring Akela, with a small gift of appreciation for his work done with Cubs. (The Ednies have moved from this locality). Mr. Duff now introduced the guest speaker--Mr. Jack Eilbeck of the Pro- vineial Board of Education of Tor- onto (Recreation Branch), who gave a very interesting address on "Life in 1975" --What will young people do with their time by then, when there will be so many more devices, etc., ete.? Blake Gunter expressed the thanks to Mr. Eilbeck and Victor Malcolm thanked the ladies for tha wonderful dinner, . ' "O Canada", played by Brian Mountjoy, brought the evening to a close. All back to school this (Monday) morning after the Easter holidays. In Central Public School, there aro ten student teachers from Peterboro Teacers College, for this week. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Marlow took John and Jane Marlow home to Lively on Saturday and spent the week-end with Dr, and Mrs. Jack Marlow and family.
