Leonard Beadle thanked the D.D.G.M. Brother Earl Geer and his Staff of Of- ficers for the excellent manner. in which the work was carried out. He also showed his appre- ciation to the members for their confidence in him to represent the Lodge for the coming term and reminded the brothers that they had before them a very busy year as construction has just started on the new Lodge Attend Lodge Officers Hall. Brother Beadle asked for the co-gperation.-of-all-his-offi-{4 cers and members to fulfill these obligations, Several short addveses were given among which were the]? remarks of the District Deputy, Brother Geer pointed out the progressive nature of Oddfellow- ship, first as belief in a supreme being which brings home the Fatherhood of Man. Oddfellow- ship tends to bring out through the use of these principles-- Friendship, Love and Truth-- the fine things contained in the Brotherhood of Man. The Dist. Deputy Grand Warden Brother Gil. Freeman spoke on the im- portance of using our time cor- rectly and he made this point very clearly by the use of a poem entitled "My Calendar of Time". All the lodges of the district were well-represented. Among the honored guests were District Deputy Grand Master Brother Friar, of Bowmanville, District #42; ten past district deputy grand masters; thirty four past noble grands; eighteen twenty- five year veterans; one fifty year veteran, Brother Gordon Bunker of Oshawa; fifty-five Rebecca members ,including the District Deputy President, Mrs. J. C. Love. One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of a past noble grand jewell to Brother Lloyd Short by his son Richard and daughter Deborah. He was introduced to the as- sembly by his brother, Past Grand Clifford Short. The large crowd of distingui- shed guests and friends enjoyed a delicious buffet luncheon pre- pared by the committee in charge, bringing a fine close to a good night of Oddfellowship.. The first ten winners were: Bill Draper, Bob Walker, Dale McNenly, Ivan Lytle, Bill Dia- mond, Richard Stevens, Joe Draper, Ross Diamond, Bob Scott and Terry Adderly. Friday's football game played at Uxbridge was won by Ux- bridge, 48 to 12, The next game this Friday will be played at Sutton. On Tuesday the 29th there will be a home game play- ed against Uxbridge. On Wednesday the 21st the students who qualified wrote the Cadet Officer's Examina- tion. Results will appear in next week's issue. October the 80th will mark the beginning of Inter-mural hockey a Port Parry High Junior Hockey Begins Nov. 5th By the time this appears in the paper the boys will have had their first workout. There should be around 25 boys try-. ing for position on the team. These boys will be wearing the red and white "Ideal Dairy" sweaters. This team will be up against tough opposition in the Central Ontario Junior Hockey League, which consists of 4 Junior "C" teams and 4 Junior "D" teams. The Junior "C" teams are Lindsay, Orangeville, Aurora 'and Newmarket. The Junior "D" teams consist of Uxbridge, Stouffville, Cannington - Sutton and Port Perry.
