During the afternoon many friends and relatives came to offer congratulations. The bride and groom were the recipients of many beautiful cards, gifts and telegrams. They were greatly honoured to have Hon. Dr, M. B. Dymond and Mrs. Dy- mond call. The Doctor prese ed Mr. and Mrs. Crosier with a framed certificate of Congratu- lations from Prime Minister Ro- barts and the Government of Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Crosier were married at Scugog sixty years ago by the Rev. George McCon- nell. They lived on the Island until 1915, when they moved to Manchester-where they have re- sided since that time. They have two sons, Vyrtle of Tor- onto and Archie of Richmond Hill; and one daughter, Alpha, (Mrs. George Samells) of Port Perry; also six grandchildren and one great grandchild, \ An enjoyable afternoon was spent by the relatives and friends, after which a delicious lunch, including wedding cake, was served. County Farm Safety Council Elects Norman Smith Chairman The annual meeting of the Ontario County Farm Safety Council was held in the Depart- ment of Agriculture Board! Room, Uxbridge, on Thursday, January 16th, at 1.30 p.m. The projects carried out in 1963 were reviewed. These pro- jects included educational meet- ings on farm and home safety; a Farm, Home and Highway Safety Poster Competition with rural school pupils. In this competition 398 posters were received, and prize money amounting to $236.00 was paid out. 4-H club safety meetings were held during the month of June. The Highway Safety Display Competition was com- pleted during the summer, with Mrs. Adelaide Kerr, Claremont, being the winner. = A safety display was put on at the Bea- verton Fall Fair and the Sun- derland Fall Fair, Over 3,000 place mats, emphasizing high- way safety, were distributed. The Ontario County Farm Safety Council was supported financially in 1963 by grants from the Province of Ontario, the Ontario County Federation of Agriculture, the Ontario County Co-op Medical Services, and a number of Townships in the County. will be very similar to those carried out in 1963. It is hoped that the Farm and Home Safe- ty Poster Competition with rural public school pupils can be re-organized in the near future. Continuing the efforts to re- duce the loss of life occasioned by accidents and fire on the farms of Ontario, the annual Farm Safety Conference will be held at the Federated Col- leges, Guelph, on February 4th and 5th. Two farm delegates from each of the fifty-four county and district farm safety coun- cils will take part in the deli- berations which will be held in teh Physical Education Building of the Ontario Agricultural College. This year's theme is "Farm Fire Prevention in 1964". The subject is of particular im- portance as farm fire losses to- talled over $7,000,000. in 1962.
