Beacock ac- companied Mr. and Mrs. B. Wanamaker of Seagrave, spend- ing an enjoyable evening with Mr, and Mrs. L. Devitts, Osh- awa. Mr. and Mrs. R. Butson were in Toronto attending the funeral of a nephew Mr. Bill Butson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. But- son. In our recent news column regarding the year's activity of Ladies Curling News - The week of Jan. 27 was a very busy one for the high 8 teams of the 1st schedule ladies. Everyone was excited and curl- ed with renewed vim and vigor each team hoping for the hon. our of having the Dymond Tro- phy in their homes, for a short while. However, in\Curling the same as all competition, some must lose and others go on to win. - So we feel pleased and happy that Clara Martyn's rink ended up as top winners. ~~ Congratulations to all the ladies on her team. Club it read "a party" instead of an "Amway" party. Quite a number from our midst attended the Ice Follies, Toronto, during last week. Mr. Robt. Jeffs, student at Toronto Teachers College, spent the week-end with his parents Mr. and Mrs. B. Jeffs. Guide Company Require Leaders - The January meeting of the Guide Mothers was held at the home of Norma Gray with 14 ladies present. After the President welcomed the ladies all repeated the Guide Promise. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The treasurer gave her report showing a balance of $31.70. As our funds are so low it was decided that the telephone committee contact the Mothers whose daughters have forgotten to take their envelopes home for the 50c. a month. It was decided that 40 cartons of Guide Cookies would be pur- chased this year. There will be a Mother and Daughter pot luck supper this year instead of a banquet. Norma Gray and Dorothy Nelson will be going 'to the Frovincial Council this year as our representatives. Mrs. Webster, Guide Commis- sjoner, told us two Guide Lieu- tenants are very badly needed or she will have to close the company. We were also asked to have a committee to test girls for their badges. The next meeting will be held at Marg. Sweetman's, Group III to serve lunch. The meeting diction. Group II served lunch. Collection $4.50.
