Lane, Port Perry and Mr. and Mrs. John Travail of Windsor were present guests of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Franklin. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. A. Anniss on the gift of a baby daughter on March 25th. Mrs. V. Schnapp, Buffalo was with Mrs. Bain and Earl Mit- chell on the holiday week-end. Miss Susan Roach is visiting in Toronto, Mrs. Crosier was in Stouff- ville for the week-end. Brenda Taylor returned home with her for the holidays. The U.C.W. will meet at Mrs. Fred Lamb's on Thursday, Apr. 2nd at 2 pm. Miss Carrie Cowan, Toronto, was with her sister Mrs. Roach and family on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harley John- ston and children of Ottawa were with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnston over Easter. There was a good attendance at Church on Easter Sunday. Special music was provided by way of a tape recording which Mr, Wesley Johnston and Mrs. Johnston had taped of a pro- gramme on C.H.E.X. Peterboro. Special interest in this record- Scout And Guide News The Annual Fun Night for all Guide and Scout families will be held this year at the] local Arena on Monday, April 13th, 7.00 - 10.00 p.m. This is an opportunity for all mem- bers of the family to have fun together, at a very modest ex- pense, There will be public skating, hockey games and broom ball, the traditional challenge game between the fa- thers of north and south sides of town. Generally there will be fun and entertainment for everyone and a program of events will be set up to allow as much participation as possible by the Brownies, Guides, Cubs and Scouts. Another event of interest to the movement will be the Church Parade and service on Sunday, April 26 at 3.00 p.m. in the United Church. This will bring together almost 300 local girls and boys and Leaders, marching in full uniform to the accompaniment of the High School Cadet Band. More de- tailed information will be avail- able at a later date. The next Paper Drive is sche- duled for Sat., April 11th. With Spring cleaning the order of the day, this will be an oppor- | tunity to clean out all the news- papers and magazines that have collected through the winter months, * Kk Xx The Scout Hall buzzed with activity the last two weeks, when Patrol Leaders, Seconds and Leaders, helped the Easter Bunny by making over 900 Easter eggs. They appreciate the support of the community for this endeavour. The proceeds will be used to subsidize a week end trip for them to Upper Canada Village and Fort Henry in June. Special thanks is ex- tended to Mr. Doupe, Eleanor's Flowers and all mothers who helped in this project. Mrs, Dolly Roberts spent Eas- ter week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Ron Hedley and daughters at Niagara Falls. Darlene Hedley who attended Manchester School until Grade VI left for Vancou- ver Good Friday as a member of the "Quigley Kittens" Jr. Basketball Eastern Champions. They will play Vancouver for the Canadian Championship. Darlene who just completed Grade XIII at Niagara District Secondary School is now attend- ing Hamilton Teachers College. Crippled Kids Will Fly Over Oshawa & Area Thanks to local pilots and the Oshawa Flying Club, April 5th will be a big day for about 50 crippled children. Club mem- bers from all walks of life are donating their time to give the children flights over this area. For many of the children, who range in age from 3 to 18 years, it will be their first flight. It's the event of the year for them and for us." Mr. Schacht is an electrician who learned to fly at the club during weekends. The flight is co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Oshawa, Whitby and Bowmanville. Each child has a "Rotary Father", who arranges transportation to the airport. This is the third year that the Oshawa Flying Club has treat- ed the children, The plan has received international attention through an article in the Rotary Club magazine. The flights will keep most of the club's seven aircraft busy all day. Several members who own their own planes, like Wil- liam Douglas, 47 Hesketh Court, North York, are also taking part. The other pilots donate their time and rent club air- craft for the occasion. Club members come from as far a- way as Toronto, Port Perry and Bowmanville for the flights.
