a A J 4 SENIOR CITIZENS CLUB The Senior Citizen's of Port Perry held the first meetifg of | the New Year on Wednesday, | until about 10.30 p.m. Lunch number attended. The Presi- dent Mabel Chapman occupied the chair, and in her usual pleasant manner welcomed all members and visitors. Several attended from Uxbridge as they are interested in organizing a Senior Citizen's Club there and: wanted to get an idea how to go about it. Good luck to our friends from Uxbridge. Meet- img opened with Lord's Prayer repeated in Unison and then O Canada. Business was discuss- ed. Sorry to hear that many of the members are confined to their homes with colds. We wish Mr. Buckland (our treasurer) a good recovery; he is confined to Hospital at the time of writ- ing in Port Perry Hospital. Also a quick recovery to Mrs. G. Smith who was operated on recently at Uxbridge Hospital. To all we wish good health in the future, January 13th at 2 pm. We certainly ap- preciate the nice cosy hall we have to hold our meetings and - entertainments, so handy for | all. Next meeting for members Wednesday, January 27th at 2] p.m, (second & fourth Wed. of every month). Next euchre will be Saturday January 23rd at 8.30 p.m. at Club Hall. Be sure and come. The January meeting of Grace U.C.W. was held Wednes- day night, January the thir- teenth in the Church parlors. Nineteen members and one visitor were present. Mrs. Prentice opened the meeting and welcomed all pre- sent. The Lord's Prayer was repeated. Mrs. Boneschanster gave a good devotional taken from Job. Hymn 510 was sung "From Ocean unto Ocean", Rev. Elsie Pogue's group to cater to the Head Mystery Sister group January 27th at 6.30 p.m. It was moved and seconded that the price for wedding sup- pers be $1.76 per plate. Mrs. Gilbert to be in charge of our Bible Study. The book the Word & The Way was chosen for study. A suggestion box for our Feb. meeting was passed. February roll call to be an- fund raising. Congregational meeting to be Monday, January 18th at 8 p.m. at Grace. U.C.W. to purchase a box of get well cards. Offering was $4.90. Program -- Mrs. D. Aldred read an article written by a former pastor, the late Rev. D. W. Falley..-She also gave us a good New Year's Message. Mrs. M. Fralick conducted an interesting contest, "Things per- taining to the body". After the close of the meeting a lovely lunch followed. There will be no Scugog News this week, as the telephone of our correspondent has been out of order.
