-- PORT PERRY STAR, Thursday, March 4th, 1965 4 Things have been really quiet here this week except in the weather department and every- one knows all about that, We have a few items of before and after the storm. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mark, Toronto, spent last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Grant Bright and family. Mr. and Mrs. 'Butt have re. turned. home from Whitby where they were welcoming * their new grandson Richard Grant Butt. Mr. and Mrs, Almer Wallace, Blackwater were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Reyn. olds recently. On Tuesday Miss Bonnie Short entertained five small friends on the occasion of her 7th birthday. Sorrow came suddenly to one of the families of our commun- ity on the past week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Spencer of the Reach-Brock town line received a message that their son-in. law Mr. Howard Harker, his wife and four year old -daugh. ter Debbie had been involved in an accident at Sharon. The Harkers lived in the Bond Head area and were on their way home when they were in collision with a truck, Mr. Harker (known as Wally) was crushed in the vehicle while the mother and daughter were thrown clear. Mr. Harkers injuries were fatal and both mother and daughter were taken to New- market Hospital to receive treatment for cuts. Mr. and Mrs. Spencer brought them home with them. The body of Mr. Harker was taken to the Funeral 'Home at Brooklin where service took place on EAGRAVE NEWS Mike Crane motored from New Jersey for the funeral. The sympathy of the com- munity is extended to Mrs, Harker, Debbie and the Spen- cer family. People were pleased to get out once more so there was a larger than usual attendance at church service, At Sunday School, Bonnie Short, Gordon Short and Harvey Monahan ad- mitted they were one year older by depositing birthday money. A little exercise was given for devotional by Mrs. Chas. Short's class of pre-schoolers. Their voices are weak but they have wonderful smiles. Doug McMillan was superin- tendent. Attendance 80. Mr. and Mrs. Belair spent Friday evening with Mr. and Mrs, Ross Real, Greenbank. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Wanamaker visited with theix, old friend Mr. and Mrs. Jess JDemara. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Bruce are LPD Ln <0 | AARC daughter Diane Clarke of Tor- onto for a few days. Miss Sandra Beadle, Port Perry spent the week-end with the Morley Bruce family, Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Boe jour- neyed to Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto on Sat. evening to see the Leafs get beaten by the Rangers, Their Loyalties may have been divided as they were special guests Bf New York player Earl Ingerfield. Mr. Ingerfield's father at one time lived in this district and was responsible for this outing. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Boe visited with Mr. and Mrs. Don (Boe and Mrs. Maud Boe in Bowmanville. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Tait and Gay, spent last Sunday with Mrs, V. Tait. The Sweetman and Sturman families held a gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reg. Sturman, Oshawa on Saturday evening. The occasion was the 11th aniversary of the marri- age of Allan Sweetman and the former Isabel Sturman.
