Smith spoke for a few minutes on a project of Port Perry Hospital Auxiliary and the local W.IL agreed to assist. Nor- ma Van Camp of the Fair Com- mittee reported that a water- melon contest is to be sponsor- ed at the fair this year. The convenor for the Institute ban- quet Eileen McLaughlin gave each group their lists and read the menu to be followed. The Treasurer's report showed all bills paid and a Balance of $156.99. It was moved that they donate the cheese for the lench at the panel discussion for Cancer at Port Perry. A discussion on each member wishing to make use of Port Perry Hospital Auxiliary /cal-} enders do so on their own. Members were asked to keep in | mind any former members who | might be interested in coming to the fair. A reminder of the Cup & Saucer Tea to be held on May 15 was made. The secre- tary read the correspondence of an invitation to the Legion so- cial night on April 17 and a Cepper tooling school on April 20-30. Roll call was well an- swered by "A prank I remem- ber" and collection was taken. The hostess and her group ably served a buffet lunch & coffee. | The annual Durham County Shorthorn Banquet was held in the Recreation Centre in Black- stock on Thursday, April 8th; catering was done by Black- stock U.C.W. ; The guests at the nead table | were introduced by John Rick- | ard and later in the evening | were given an opportunity to speak briefly. George Canson introduced the speaker for the evening, the Rev, John Romeril from Cour- tice who took as his subject, "Family Life in the present". Wm. Slater thanked the speak- er. A trio from Bowmanville, known as "The Hoboes" played several lively selections during the evening. The president of the Durham club, David Beath called on the other guests. Bill Sutherland, president of the Ontario Short- horn Club had been to a meet- ing of the Royal Winter Fair committee and brought infor- mation on the new judging rules. Bill Elliott, secretary of the Ontario Shorthorn Association ana E. H. Stoltz editor of Short- hern news both brought mes- sages of encouragement for Shorthorn Breeders. Excellent services were held in both churches Sunday morn- ing with good congregations attending, It being Palm Sun- day, Holy Communion was ad- ministered in St. John's church. On Mondy Thursday service will be held at 7.30 p.m. and on Good Friday at 10.30 a.m. ser- vices will be held in St. John's. In the United Church service will be held Good Friday at 8 p.m. Easter Sunday at 10 a.m. Holy Communion will be ad- ministered. MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF THE VILLAGE OF PORT PERRY A By-Law to stop up and close parts of highways in the Village of Port Perry. WHEREAS the Reeves and Council of the Village of Port Perry deem it in the public interest to close up that part of Silver Street and that part of Reno Street, as shown on Crandel Estate Plan of part of the Village of Port Perry registered in the Registry Office for the Registry-Division of the County of Ontario as Number 85 and more particularly described hereinafter; AND WHEREAS no person is being deprived of the means of ingress and egress to and from his or her land or place of residence. AND WHEREAS those parts of the highways to be stop- ped up and closed have not been used for vehicle traffic. AND WHEREAS Notice of this By-Law has been pub- lished once a week for four consecutive weeks, namely April Tth, 14th, 21st and 28th, 1965 in the Port Perry Star, a weekly newspaper published and circulated in the Village of Port Perry. AND WHEREAS the Corporation of the Village of Port Perry, in accordance with the provisions of the Muni- cipal Act has duly caused Notice of its intention to pass this By-Law to be posted up for at least one month in six of the most public places in the immediate neigh- bourhood of those parts of the highways in question. THEREFORE the Corporation of the Village of Port Perry, enacts as follows: The following parts of a highway, street or road allow- ance as shown on the Crandel Estate Plan of part of the Village of Port Perry, registered in the Registry Office for the Registry-Division of the County of Ontario as Number 85 are hereby closed and stopped up: Part of Silver Street lying between the northerly limit of Lot 4, John Ballard's W.R. Plan 81, to Reno Street and more particularly described as a parcel of land with a frontage of Sixty-Six Feet and a depth of ap- proximately Two Hundred and Fifty-Two I'eet, Seven and Three-Quarter Inches and Part of Reno Street from Silver Street to Simcoe Street and more particularly described as a parcel of land with a frontage of Sixty- approximately One Hundred and Sixty-Nine Ieet, One and One-Ialf Inches.
