The annual Missionary quilt- ing bee was held last Wednes- day in. the church school-room with'. the ever faithful few in attendance. Thirty or forty yéars ago this was a real event with many quilters on hand but not so to-day. At that time there were two age groups, the more mature ladies who took the lead and the younger ones who followed along. Down through the years the members of gifpup one have passed on and those in group two carried on the good work. Now drop outs are occurring every year with no replacements in sight. Apparently the young matrons of this generation are not in- terested in quilting so it ap- pears that these bees will be dorced to discontinue for lack of woman - power. However those who do not attend these gatherings have no idea what they are missing. It is a first- class place to catch up on the town gossip, coming events are put ow the air free of charge and church and state affairs are thoroughly discussed. Of course no big issues are really settled but they are batted a- round. So those faithful few may go home weary in body but refreshed in mind. One import- ant feature is lacking, there are no coffee breaks, no refresh- ments of any kind. Perhaps a bit of a snack would draw lar- ger crowds, who knows.
