FARMER, Auctioneer May 20-27, June 3-10 Phone Gormley 887-5311 Profits Increased In 12-Week Period The Oshawa Wholesale Limi- ted reports to shareholders a net profit increase of 35.69 per cent and a sales rise of 27.44 per cent in the first 12 weeks ended April 17. Net profit was $320,165, com- pared with $235,955 for the same period last year. Earn- ings per share for the 12-week period were 27.40 cents on 1,- 168,496 outstanding combined Class A and Common shares, compared with 20.49 cents on 1,151,396 outstanding shares last year. Sales were $27,996,211, com- pared with $21,968,115 last year. In the last full fiscal year, ended January 23, 1965, Osh- awa reported profits of $1,557,- 132, an increase of 32.8 per cent, and sales of $106,867,754, an in- crease of 20.4 per cent. In the first 12 weeks three new IGA markets and one Food City market were opened and one IGA market doubled in size. The company's expansion pro- gram is proceeding on schedule, Ray D. Wolfe, President, re- ports, and the outlook for growth in sales and profits con- tinues to be favorable. Greenban ucw The regular monthly meeting of Greenbank Fidelis U.C.W. was held Wednesday evening, May 5th, at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Parrish. The group in charge opered the Devotions with Call to Worship by Doris Tobin. Hymn No. 289 was sung. Psalm No. 736 was read respon- sively. Muriel Gibson gave a reading followed by prayer. Mr, Geo. Beare presented the Study on Stewardship. The of- fering was taken and dedicated by Ruby Beare. The singing trio of local yourg ladies, Joan- ne Harris, - Janice Stone and Karen Tobin, favoured the la- dies with two selections. Helen Parrish gave a talk on the work of the Church in Brazil and par- ticularly the role of the United Church. The president, Mrs. Beare, then took charge of the meet- ing. Ruby thanked the group and Loulla for inviting the la- dies to her home, The secre- tary read the minutes of the last meeting. The Treasurer then gave her report. The la- dies were reminded of the bake sales being held in July. Ar- rargements were being com- pieted for the open meeting in June. This meeting will take the place of the regular Fidelis meeting in June.
