Mrs. Fred Brooks attended the christening of her niece Ruth Coleen Parker in Knox | Presbyterian Church, Oshawa. Mrs. Williams, Oshawa visit ed Mr. and Mrs, Ed, Thompson and the Hope household. Mr. F, Vickery, Mr. and Mrs. L. 'Beacock and Mrs. L. Devitt, Oshawa attended the funeral of a cousin Mrs. Dougald Gillespie, Beaverton. Several from our midst at- tended the Warden's Picnio near Orillia on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs, N. Wilson were at Orillia on Sunday and were among the near thirty relativas who 'gathered at the cottage of Mr. and Mrs. G. Miller on Lake Simcoe. } Mr. and Mrs. B. Smith spent the week-end with friends at Lake Mazinaw, Mr. and Mrs. Arthun Jeffrey, Millbrook visited the three Jef- frey brothers. We all were shocked to learn of the sudden passing of Mrs, C. Mills of Courtice who was guest speaker at our U.C.W. Dessert Tea in May. Senior Citizens Install New Modern Kitchen We were pleased to welcome back our President Mrs. M. Chapman last week. Members of the Club met Wednesday 2.00 p.m. at the Hall, 9th of June. There was a nice attendance. Meeting opened as usual. Busi- ness was discussed. A bus tnip is planned for Niagara, Friday, June 25th. Two buses will leave Port Perry at 8 a.m. from IGA Store. Many thanks to Mrs. Chapman and Mrs. Robertson. These trips involve a lot of planning. Great alterations are being made to our club and a modern kitchen is almost fini- shed. The work is well done & a lot of credit is due to members who have worked so hard. Af- ter meeting we all had a so- ciable time and lunch was ser ved. Next meeting will be Wed- nesday, June 23rd at 2 p.m.(No more meetings in July or Aug- ust). Scugog A very successful bazaar, bake sale and afternoon tea was held in the "Head" Church on Wednesday afternoon when ap- prox. 756 people attended from Oshawa, Raglan, Port Perry, Prospect, Manchester and even B.C. Many were pleased to meet Rev. Miss Winnifred Bridges for the first time when she gave her introductory talk, She stated that she was one who was in favour of such affairs, as it gave the women an oppor- tunity to use their various tal- ents, when for some, the giving of money may be difficult. Then there are the benefits de- rived from working together. Fathers' Day was indeed an opportunity for many family gatherings. On Tues evening of this week Marilyn Manns held a shower at her home in honour of her cousin Judy Manns who is soon to become a bride.
