Clare Moxley Speaker At Holstein Meeting Mr. Clare Moxley, Sales Man- ager for Ralston Purina, was the guest speaker at the annual Ontario County Holstein Club Twilight Meeting, which was held at the farm jof Irvine L. Fisher, R.R. 2, Woodville, on Wednesday, July 21, Mr. Mox- ley emphasized the importance of milk production records, and general quality in our cattle. He congratulated Holstein pro- ducers in the County on their outstanding success at the ma- jor Canadian Shows and Cattle Sales. The evening programme be- gan with the judging of two splendid classes of Holstein cattle. Mr. Gerry Nelson, Hol- stein Fieldman, was in charge of the judging competition. The official placing was made by a panel of five prominent Hol- stein breeders in the area,-- Marvin Jebson, Beaverton; Bob Flett, Oshawa; 'Cliff Lillico, Woodville; "Orvan Chambers, Wilfrid; and Ralph Chambers, Wilfrid. Some 500 people par- ticipated in this part of the programme. The winners in the three judging divisions were as follows: Junior Division-- 1st--Murray Empringham, Greenbank 2nd (tie)--Ed McMorrow, Beaverton; John Stone, Blackwater Ladies' Division-- 1st--Mrs. Francis Doble, Cannington 2nd--Mrs. A. McEachern, Pefferlaw 3rd--Mrs. Lloyd Wilson, Ashburn Men's Division-- 1st--Mr. Andy Forson, Cannington 2nd--Mr. Harold Woodward, Sunderland 3rd (tie)--Mr. Bud Ennes, Beaverton; Mr. T. H. White, Whitevale. The presentation of prizes to the winners was made by Mr, Lynn Fair; Agricultural Répre- sentative, assisted by President, Mr. Ronald Werry. Mr. Irvine Fisher spoke on behalf of the Fisher family, and welcomed the group to their farm. Some very fine entertainment was provided by the Joseph Family of Gormley, Ontario. Mr. Ronald Werry, President of the Ontario County Holstein Club was in charge of the pro- gramme for the evening. The meeting was brought to a con- clusion with lunch. PORT PERRY STAR, Thursday, July 29th, 1965-11 Squirts Win (Continued) singled, Cal Cochrane sacrificed, Laurie Wilhams beat out an in- field hit, Rick Evans dropped a good bunt to load up the bases. Then Steve Cochrane tripled in- to left field to clear the bases and was then brought home by Bob Young's single. This gave Port Perry the big inning which turned out to be all the runs needed. The bases were loaded up in the sixth inning but no runs scored. General Motors dealers in Canada established new monthly sales records in June for the fifth consecutive month. Sales totalled 35,858 North American cars and trucks. Last year's June sales, a record for the month until now, were 33,317. Passenger car sales in June were 29,962, up from 28,197 in June 1964. Truck sales moved G.M. Dealers Increase Sales up to 5,986 from 5,120 a year ago. GM sales for the first six months of 1965 also established a new record. Figures for 1965 with 1964 figures in brackets are: Total North American cars and trucks, 202,425, (190,563) ; cars 172,228 (163,036); trucks | Laurie Williams pitched fine | ball for Port Perry allowing four hits over the seven innings but each inning Sarnia mane aged to get one man on base, but a real team effort combined with the fine pitching of the Port club kept a good Sarnia team from scoring. The final score, Port Perry Legion 4, Sarnia 1. ; At the conclusion of the game Capt. Ken Nightingale accepted the Post Trophy donated by the Newmarket Newspaper on be- half of the team and each boy was presented with a champion- ship crest. This trophy and the Markham Trophy will be on dis- play this week in the window of Don Carnegie's men's wear store on the main street. The East Gwillimbury Minor Softball Assoc. should be con- gratulated for a fine Tourna- ment and the local boys were treated well and enjoyed a good day of softball.
